In my experience unless you drive like grandma , never over 55mph on asphalt only roads then you'll never get as many miles as the warranty. But if you get half of it then you get pro rated for 50% you are still doing well. And they get you to stay in their brand tire. It's all marketing folks .

QUOTE=Steffen.Johnson;4098446]I am still concerned about the wear and warranty. I just got tires for my girls toyota and they had a 60k wear warranty on them. The PSS only have a 30k, thats half the life? Are they really that good and worth the money??[/QUOTE]

For Z rated tires 20/30k warranty periods will be typical. I'd expect 50k out of a set, unless you track it.

The PSS is a fun tire, the last 2/32's is extremely sticky.

Sounds like a very good choice. I'll bet you'll be very happy with them.

Believe it or not I have been leaning more towards the Cont. DWS now..Cheaper, higher rating, and all around seem like more people liked them than the others. Any thoughts?

Haven't tried either, but summer tires and all seasons are apples and oranges.
PSS will be much better at handling and response in everything except winter weather,
DWS will be able to deal with freezing temps and the white stuff and will last longer, but
not as fun to drive as the PSS.

Without question the Cooper Zeon RS3-A. So, so much better than my Nittos and Falkens. The Cooper is a really wonderful tire. They are quiet, are the best rain tire I have ever owned on any car and have turned up the fun on the twisties several notches for me.

When they wear out I'll be buying another set. No more tire experimenting for me.

Dean.

The Michelin PSS AS3 are ALL SEASON tires. So I think they would be ok in the cold weather and snow wouldn't they??

I had coopers ONCE ,never again, took them off within 5k miles after several 180's in the rain and a new wheel after curbing backwards in the rain . They might be better now but after that experience never again.

When you mentioned the PSS, I thought you meant the Pilot Super Sport.
The Michelin PS AS3 (PILOT SPORT A/S 3) is an all season tire;
the PSS (PILOT SUPER SPORT) is a summer tire.

The Pilot Sport A/S 3 is also a very good all season tire - a little better in the warmer season than the DWS, but not quite
as good in the snow and ice than the DWS, but will still get you through mild winters just fine.

O ok gotcha, I wasn't too accurate on my end either. But thanks. That seems to be the stuff I am reading about. Since I wont be driving a whole lot in the winter or snow exactly I mine as well have a better tire in the summer months than the winter right?

If winter/snow driving does not enter into the equation, get the Michelin PSS
If winter/snow driving is not a big priority, then get the Michelin PS A/S 3
If winter/snow driving is a moderate priority, then get the Conti DSW or DWS06
If winter/snow driving is a big priority, then get the Michelin PSS and some
dedicated snow tires on another set of 15" or 16" rims.

Where do you live and do you drive north to snowy areas in the winter?

Thanks so much for the break down it helps out a lot. I live in Kansas and am a student if there is much snow at all over 3" school is cancelled and I don't drive much. But I am FROM BOSTON. So I know how snow driving can be. But I have never brought my car to boston and don't plan on it anytime soon. I will be moving and trailering my car to Oregon soon though and dont think ill be driving in much snow there either. So the PS A/S 3 seem to be the way to go?

price/ride/snow = Conti
dry/wet handling = A/S 3

It depends on your preferences.

From what you're saying, it looks like the A/S 3 is the best choice.
You could also call up Tire Rack and ask for Alex (x4294).
He's a sponsor to this forum and should be glad to give you his experienced
and relatively unbiased opinion.

Spoke with them over at tire rack and they said all around as well as snow the NEW DWS06 Continental is the way to go. The ratings on the DWS vs all the others are excellent and the price is only 117 per tire right now.

As with any tire company ...not all their tires are created equal. I've owned Michellins and Pirellis that have been awful ...but know full well they both can make a great tire ...I just had the wrong ones.

The Zeon RS3-A's are fantastic. I've got 98K on my car and this is the fourth set of tires I've had. Each previous time I bought new tires I posted here asking what was best tire and bought the tire that was the consensus as the best at that time. None come even close to the Zeon RS3-A which are by far the best tire I have ever owned in every respect. I don't slow down for rain.

I have had similar experiences with Nitto, Falken, and Bridgestone. I know they all make amazing rubber but the cheaper models that I had on my G3 Eclipse and my wife's civic were all pretty crappy. But fork over the extra dough and you can run Invos and have amazing daily performance. Like a previous poster mentioned, it's all marketing.

I'm just glad nobody has mentioned retreading...
