Another sunroof drain question

I had a water soaked carpet on my front passenger side. I assumed that it was a plugged sunroof drain line after I pushed some water through it from the top with a syringe and water came out in the inside near the glove compartment. I tried using grass trimmer line to unblock the line but something unexpected happened. I pushed 10' of line down the drain from the top and it never came out of the outlet in front of the door. I can't see where it is running to. Does anybody have a diagram of or knowledge of where that drain hose runs and where it could be disconnected?

The usually get disconned by the headliner.....water gets trapped, and it backs off the connector when the water freezes....
I would just reconnect it...use a WIRE CLAMP..plastic will snap in the cold...and then pour water down to make sure you did not poke a hole in the line trying to open it...

There are two drains on either side of the sunroof. The passenger side front drain is the one giving me trouble. It appears that I can use a 5/16" screw protector to plug it temporarily since warm weather is setting in and I don't want mildew issues. Will the rear drain accommodate the extra drainage?

Yanking off the screws that hold the side visors/holy crap handles off, and reconnecting the drains is about a 15 minute job...maybe an hour if you muddle through it...
The headliner has some flex...many folks have done it from the edge...headliner in place.

Will one drain work...or is the other one dripping down the back of the fuseblock...who knows...
Thecdrains don't do much if the gasket around the glass is good...but wear and age...who knows...

I have already accessed the drain hose (it was completely disconnected) and reconnected it. I used metal hose clamps to secure it and it shouldn't come off now. Thanks for the help.

Good job!!
Now get lots of air in the car, dry it out, and all should be good!!
Folks that ignore problems like this often have to replace the bcm or have the fuse box rewired! Good diy!!

got a question about the sunroof drain hose, i'm thinking about using hose clamps on these to prevent them from popping off again
has anyone done this?
does anyone see a reason that i shouldn't use hose clamps on these drain hoses to secure it to the down-tubes & sunroof upper drain bit?

Thats the fix for the Gen 2 MINI problem that affects the FRM. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...k-of-fire.html

This works on gen 1 MINI also, just make sure you dont overtighten, snug fit should work.

+1 works like a charm and really your only defense against this. As stated be careful tightening, its 20yr old plastic and cracking it will create a whole new issue. Cheers
