Tach cluster dead - help

Hi I am new to the forum. I did some searching before posting this but all I could find was a couple of general ideas. The tach cluster (round gauge mounted to top of steering column) stopped working suddenly on my wife's 2006 R50 (non S) mini and I am trying to find out what fuse or plugs to check to see it's just a blown fuse or loose wire. The tach needle is dead and there are no lights in that one round gauge. Aside from that everything else on the car runs fine.

I had just taken the car for an oil change to a mechanic I had never been to before near our house. I know the tach was working beforehand because I was using it as a spedo (the digital spedo read-out) and I think it worked after the oil change for a short bit but honestly I can't remember. It was a busy day and I was running all over doing errands and things. I had taken my wife's car specifically so I could get the oil changed on it.

I don't want to point the finger at a dishonest mechanic fishing for more repair work but I find it suspicious this happened right then. Anyways... I read to check ground wires under the dash. Can anyone give me more specific fuses, wires, or plugs to check?

Thanks for your help!

It started working again... There was one loose connection under the steering column area... Not sure what it was but I snugged that up. The tach and light were working before I did that though. Weird.
