Hi guys,

So haste makes waste is always true.. always.

But -- is there a top or bottom to the intercooler? I didn't pay attention when taking it out. One side seems to have bolts in the corners -- the other does not. Are there any orienting marks?

Thank you.

See if you can find the holes the bolts go into. They are probably the mounting bolts. Then you should be able to figure out the correct orientation. Or find a car like yousr and see if you can look. My guess is the bolts are at the top and the cooler hangs from them. Just checked a picture in my Bentley manual looks like the bolt are on opposite sides of cooler one in the upper right, toward the front facing the cooler and the other on the left lower area toward the rear, again facing the vehicle. hope this helps. My Manual is for 2007-2011 Mini Coopers.

Yeah, this is for a 1st Gen supercharged engine, so unfortunately that manual will not help

The larger oval port goes on the passenger side.

If I remember right the black Tabs on the side go to the back:

Hey ECS yup - left to right is hard to get wrong but what are these black tabs you are referencing?

Hard to explain with out photoshop circles. But if you look at the top pictures there are little black tabs at the bottom of the IC (as it sits in the picture).

Then if you look at the engine bay pic, you can see the same tabs (barely) at the top of the IC (as it sits in the picture) or toward the windshield.

When you try to bolt it back in, the hardware will only fit right in one way....
If installed upside down, the bolts just don't work....
