Need to scream it (And support)

Well this morning happened something I knew it could happen, when I went to my mini to come to work I found it was keyed. A long nasty mark about 2ft long was made on the drivers' side door. I still was able to see the paint curls along the deep scratch........ I'm so mad........

Well I just called the dealer; it will charge 150.00 for painting the entire door.

What a terrible thing to find, MiniMx! My condolences! May be time to invest in a MINI car cover. Vandalism is infuriating!! Grrrrrrrrrrr!

So sorry to hear about your poor car. I just don't understand why people do things like that. Why did you expect it would happen? Bad area, or just a lot of idiots around who enjoy destroying other peoples things? Such a sad story.

Well couple months ago I discovered a scratch (Light one) on almost the same area. I suspected of one of my neighbors well I fixed that one with some work but something in my mind was telling me that if the small one was made on purpose they would do another sooner or later well I think I was not that wrong.

Nasty neighbors! Well, all I can say is that someday, hopefully soon they will get what they deserve from someone else, what comes around goes around, as they say. Karma...

really sorry to hear the bad news. It makes me kringe. I still dread the day I get my first ding or scratch. Will fixing it help? If the person did it intentionally, won't they just do it after you repair it?

Well believe me I've been thinking about it all morning and well as soon as I get out of the office I'll do 2 things one go to buy a video security system so I'll be able to tape by night all activity around my car, second I'll go to Mini so they will paint the door.

I hope the only presence of the camera discourage them to do it again.

I still want to think it was not my neighbor, for me it would look too obvious but well you never know

dont let them know you have the camera then you can catch them then prosicute, i hate when people get away with things of such caliber!
are you in a parking structure or what!!

when you see them do another act if they do and then they get in the car you can pute a nice little note on their car that sais "got you on tape and im prosicuting for vandalism" then let them sit and sweat

sorry i had my newley restored 71 charger keyed on all sides and trunk and hood and the paint was onley a month old so im a little tender about keying!!

Some of my neighbors had problems with UPS and FED Ex packages being stolen, so two neighbors set up video cameras facing each others house, then sent themselves large packages. Caught the teenage criminal taking the package, and he was arrested.

If you suspect your neighbor, and you can pull this off, try closely looking at their house / car door locks for traces of your paint chips. Paint chips tend to stick to the key used.

I feel for you! I'm getting mad just thinking about the worthless mouth breathers that would key a car. I have always liked the line from Pulp Fiction when Vincent talks about his car beening key'd... "You don't mess with another man's car!"

Quentin Tarantino to at least attempt to put a smile on your face today:

Vincent takes his works out of his case and, as the two
continue to talk, Vince shoots up.

LANCE
Still got your Malibu?

VINCENT
You know what some f***er did to it
the other day?

LANCE
What?

VINCENT
F***in' keyed it.

LANCE
Oh man, that's f***ed up.

VINCENT
Tell me about it. I had the
goddamn thing in storage three
years. It's out five f***in' days
-- five days, and some d***less
piece of s**t f***s with it.

LANCE
They should be f***in' killed. No
trial, no jury, straight to
execution.

VINCENT
I just wish I caught 'em doin' it,
ya know? Oh man, I'd give anything
to catch 'em doin' it. It'a been
worth his doin' it, if I coulda
just caught 'em, you know what I
mean?

LANCE
It's chicken s**t. You don't f***
another man's vehicle.

I agree w/ the others about not showing the camera, try tinting your window and putting the camera in the car pointing out. That should catch the person's face. Also, if you suspect the neightbors the police should be able to canvas the area and check for the paint chips. Good luck.

Well first thanks to all for the support, i'm surprised i'm taking this with this cold head but i think talking about this with people with understand my feelings help.

Well yes, now my ultimate goal is to tape them and prosecute them. Not for the money, just for the fact, i think if you have problems with someone you must talk about them, doing that is like hitting and running, i think it is too coward.

I like the idea about the camera in the car, i think i'll use a 2 camera system, on in and other out. so i can have them

I have seriously considered developing an automated defense mechanism against keying and general vandalism. Something along the lines of HIGH VOLTAGE or FLASH/BANG incendiary devices...maybe both I think we have enough expertiese on board to come up with a huge seller

Man, I'm so sorry to hear about your MINI...your neighbor sounds like mine. I go to the extent of not parking by his car at all. That's how much I trust him, especially when I got a dirty look when I got my MINI. I couldn't prove it, but I thought that we was sticking nails in the tires of my other car. I had three flat tires in a month!

I'm taking extra precaution with my baby though. He parked by it one night, and I thoroughly checked my car out!

You know, you could always do what that one commericial did, and that's stick a chimp in your car so he can get out and beat up anyone who touches your car! You get a car protector and a cute pet!

Oh, I would be out for blood if that was my MCS!!!!

I really hope you to catch them! All my luck in finding the perp or perps and totally bleeding them dry! If the authorities ask, just tell them it was the evil goat sucker creature of Puerto Rico!
