If it's not available, I'll probably go with KTURTLB - Katie Urtel Bee (my last name is Urtel) and it's yellow & black... one of our friends calls it The Urtel-bee. I'm not 100% sold on that one since it's so cryptic for others to read.

mlebeau - like your tint. Not too much, just right, I think. What % did you get? I've never gotten windows tinted before since I've never had the [right] car to do it on. About what does that run?

Mike - it should be able to accept the previous billet stubby antennae that I used to have on my 03 MC.... in fact, most of them are of standard size since I've seen them on TT's, GTI's and stuff.... also, I already ordered the magnetic bonnet stripes for my car..... I know, I know... pretty obsessive..... can't wait to drive it...

Thanks, it's 35%, and yeah 35% is what I have always used, it's always been a good pick for me. Comfortable and nice but not painfully obvious. At Classic MINI their tint people charged me $150 for the windows and another $75 to do 5% limo tint for the two sunroofs, so $225 total. In the bay area just the windows would probably cost $350-400 which is why I did it while the car is still in Ohio, plus that way I don't have to worry about not putting the windows down for a week since it's going to sit at the dealer and bake in.

Alfredo,

Not obsessive at all. You should see all the things I'm getting to prepare for the MINI - mostly protection-related (clearbra, etc), but I've already got a running list of my "MINI expenses" which I'm going to try to keep up-to-date throughout the life of the car. I'm of course also planning on documenting all services, and I'm even going to keep all my gas receipts and a gas log.

There are some other places that carry magnetic bonnet stripes as well. I bought mine from a lady in Britain who sells them on eBay. Her seller ID is miss_chica_bling. I received them the other day. To make them nice and flat you soak them in hot water - I did it in the bath tub - and it works quite well. I then put them on the fridge so the would lie flat. They were about $60. Another place is www.mini-stuff.com. They have black and white magnetic stripes for about $69. www.triple-c.com also sells magnetic bonnet stripes but they have no photo or price on their web site yet. Hope this helps.

Hurrah! I noticed that the Charleston Port schedule shows her in on Sep 3, and the WW site shows the Freedom into Charleston on Sep 4. Either way, esp since the Freedom goes to Brunswick, GA, before Charleston, here's what the AP said this morning about Hurricane Frances:

As Frances drew nearer to the Bahamas, it was expected to fluctuate in intensity and could become a Category 5 storm with winds of 156 mph or higher, said Jamie Rhome, a meteorologist for the National Hurricane Center (news - web sites) in Miami.

The hurricane could hit anywhere from South Florida to South Carolina as early as late Friday, he said.

So, I'm staying as calm as possible and trying to think about the lives of the folks who live in the SouthEastern coastal areas - how they can handle yet more tons of rain (which they'll definitely get even if they don't get slammed full force). I will confess that I have my financing, my insurance, my garage, AND my Zaino all in place! Come on, Freedom!!

John - track by your VIN, not the carrier's schedule. If you're trying to track the Freedom's current voyage, you can do two things:

1. Go to WW & track your auto cargo by your VIN, or by Booking #GBSOU248687, or by Voyage #EB422-FRE.
2. Go to http://www.sailwx.info, track ship, and track by call sign, WDB5483, which will show you just where the Freedom was at the last time that it called in.

Right now, she looks to be about 400 miles off our coast! Of course, Hurricane Frances may make things change pretty drastically!

Thanks, I'll try it with the VIN.

The Car is at the dealership in Bloomington having the stripes put on. Should be motoring by the week-end.

I am trying to ignore and place far out of my mind $69 magnetic stripes.

Congrats! So they must have really shared a truck, huh? If you make it to the dealer before Saturday (I'm assuming you will), say hi to Katie for me.

The stripes listed as a dealership accessory for "$79 (excluding installation)", note the parenthasis, will actually cost me $279. Don't even ask about the lamps.

The stripes offered as a $79 option (excluding installation) - note the parenthesis here - will actually cost me $279. Don't even ask about the lamps.

2005LY, I will be going to Motorwerks this evening to to the finance things, so if I have the opportunity to get to the lot, I'll try to get some pictures for both of us.

Just looked at the position of the Freedom on the weather site and she is just a couple hundred miles east of Charleston I hope Frances stays to the south

Frances is now supposed to head Northwest after landfall in southeast FL; right through central FL - those folks are getting the worst double-whammy in over a hundred years.

Doesn't look like Brunswick or Charleston will suffer more than LOTS of rain, and then probably too late to slow down the Freedom. It could affect the VDC if there's flooding & power outages, plus I don't know how Labor Day influences operations there.

The WW site shows the Freedom back on schedule into Charleston on the 3rd! I have gotten everything in place - financing, insurance, Zaino, & time off! - -

I feel sorry for those folks in the path of Frances. I experienced a couple of Pacific typhoons in the navy - NOT fun. I too have my ducks in a row and am ready to send full payment as soon as the dealer tells me the car is there

Hey Jerry - That's great progress. Of course, your MINI might not be taking a WW ship, and thus would not show up on their website...

Mine took about 2 days from shipping to port to showing up on the WW site. Maybe you will be on the 9/5 Liberty!
