Mcs Stolen!!

My 2002 MCS was stolen last night about 9:00 P.M. right in front of my work. I was working late on a software project and I saw my car parked in front at about 9:00 and when I went to leave at 9:30 IT WAS GONE!!!

I work (and live) in Corona, CA, about 50 miles east of Los Angeles in a typical industrial area that has quick access to two major freeways. Mexico is about 2 hours south. Swear to God I never heard a thing. No broken glass or other signs of forced entry. It was locked, but I had no alarm installed. Still have both keys, never got a "valet" key. It wasn't repo'ed either.

Called 911, got a local police report, got the insurance claim started, but have heard nothing all day. I have been posting on and off all day today on our local SCMM board, but I am still in shock. What a feeling to see an empty spot where your car HAS TO BE.

I will add more to this thread when I can. All I can say is

MAY THE BASTARDS THAT DID THIS ROT IN HELL!!

Had a 53 VW bug stollen, hate to say, but I never saw it again.

Do you have any pics of your MCS?

And if I see the Little Bastard, you want, I should break his Head open?

I know the feeling. Had my car stolen twice, but man to get an MCS stolen. That's pretty rough :( And I thought these cars were unstealable? Only way to steal would be to tow the car right? Hope they find the car as it was, if not better hope they don't find it at all so you can get a new one. Things like this make me wonder whether I should invest in Lo-Jak or something..

I'd bet it is closer to Mexico by now.
Probably flatbedded away and in a
container by now or a chop shop.
I hope your insurance enables you
to get a new one.

Bet it was put on a P/U tow truck and just towed off. Bummer man. That has got to be my worst nightmare.

Hope everything turns out ok.

CFMini,
Sorry to hear about that. No security for your building?
Besides an aftermarket alarm I use a brake pedal lock.
If the hand brake is up can they still tow your car?
Maybe by lifting the back? But what if you leave it in gear?

That's awful. Let us know if it is found. 2 hours is pretty close to mexico.

This is why I moved from San Diego to Oregon. AND have a web cam set up watching my parking space at work. Hope the insurance kicks in for a total replacement. Think of all the new options. On second thought, I hope your MCS is returned in perfect condition. Sorry Dude.

That car is on Pemex gas and having a taco in the depths of ole Mexico by now.

Look atthe bright side, you are safe and you get to pick another one!
Not a whole lot of comfort I know...but it is what it is. You've had a couple of days spoiled by the thieving a perforations, count to 10, breath deeply, get on with life.

This may sound like a shock, in a way, hope no one ever finds it. Who really wants their car found after it's been stolen. There's no telling what abuse they put it through. Mind you MINIs keep everything stored in its computers. So I guess you can tell to a certain degree how abused it was. But if you have the right insurance cover, you can get a whole new MINI and start all over again.
Really sorry to hear that. I hope they at least catch the damn dirt ape that did it.
Hope you have better luck with yourself and your property in the future.
Cheers,

Agreed. I had a motorcycle stolen out of our garage a couple years ago and the thieves dumped the bike in the street about a block away. I would have prefered they just made off with it

My thoughts exactly! Thanks MartyR, I haven't laughed so hard in along time. Hope you don't mind but I plan on stealing this phrase from you!

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. My bet is that it is still in the USA, probably at a chop shop where some parts will be switched/modified and then the car will be resold under a false title in another state. The demand is too great here in the USA for the MCS, no need to go to Mexico. Please post a pic, or give some sort of description of uniqueness (e.g. aftermarket parts, OEM and dealer options, that sort of thing). Who knows, maybe it will turn up in Texas or similar.

CFMINI, sorry to hear of this! Good luck!

I hope that some info turns up, at least so we can all figure out how this happened. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the only other MINI I've heard of being stolen was the guy in England who left his car keys within reach of the mail slot in his front door.

I have had two cars stolen from that area - got both of them back, though. Unfortunately the cars I had were easy to steal. The effort it takes to steal a modern car is much more so it is doubtful the car was stolen by "joyriders."

I have the lojack installed in mine and what a sense of relief, it was a standard thing in new York I guess, the dealer put it in and charged me 600 bucks one time fee and I tell you when your car is stolen that 600 is pennies, plus I am not as afraid of having my car parked its just a piece of mind, plus I get to know that if the bastards do steal my car I get to go and see the little buggers tracked and placed under arrest.

Reminds me of a story I herd while living in Detroit here!

A guy I knew had his escalade stolen here and he went and called on star and had the truck tracked by satellite and when the cop cars got their the two men where dressed in their best on their way out for the night for clubbing,

Well long story short "no clubbing"

And he got the truck back with only minor damage.

even Cadillac’s get stolen and they have the chip as well so anything is obtainable if you have the technology to counter act technology as well as some good old fashion know-how!

Im so very sorry for your loss but at least the car is replaceable but I know how you feel it’s never the same, you grow so attached to your car that another one just doesn’t have the same sole!!!!

So sorry to hear, but I do agree with MINI-Madman. Who knows what is being done to the car, I wouldn't want it back. But the wait for a new one may be just as torturous.
