I have been unsuccessful in finding out what colors are most popular/by percentage here in the US. Ask MINI didn't know. Numbers guru Melone(BMW/NA) advised that sales figures for MC/MCS in the US does not reflect car colors. I guess if I was selling cars I probably would factor that into my computer program to not only know how many I am selling, but other specs, to include colors, as well. Factual info would be appreciated. Thanks. Nick

These polls aren't very scientific, but they may give you a general idea.

I guess you need to look for an official production statistic from MINI to give you a breakdown of colors according to customer orders between the MC and MCS.
Have you tried e-mailing directly the factory in Oxford?
Back in December 2002, the most popular color choice for the MCS was Electric Blue, followed by Chili Red and Dark Silver.
Based on my own unscientific observation, the colors that I see the most in our MINI club and here in Miami are Chili Red, Dark Silver, Pure Silver, Indi Blue and Liquid Yellow.
Very rarely I see a Velvet Red or Silk Green Cooper (Both colors have been long discontinued). Gold metallic is also extremely uncommon. Pepper White is picking up popularity a bit (I also own a PW Cooper) since it became vailable in the MCS last year.
BRGs, and Black MINis are not that common.
You also need to take into account the amount of cars ordered with contrasting roof vs all body color. For example all body Chili Reds are difficult to find.
I would think the most popular MINI colors (2002-2004 model years) are Chili Red, Electric Blue, Indi Blue, Dark Silver, Pure Silver and Liquid Yellow.
For what is worth.

Here is a count of the 100+ MINIs at the Tail of the Dragon event

In general the mix you will see will vary with your local area vs the true mix based on sales. I see quite a few Velvet red and silk green MC in my area because they sold very well. We also see some gold MC for the same reason.
White is more and more common these days and Dark silver and electric blue are favorites for the MCS.
CR/ Indi Blue/Ly and pure silver are all strong sellers.
The MINI2 poll is based on people that frequent MINI2.
Your dealership will have some numbers on the 100s of MINI they have sold over the last two years.

Well there is no poll here. I provided information that was pertinent to the discussion. Many of us frequent both places in search of valid information. Just becase they call the convertable roof the "hood" doesn't make them bad people.Originally Posted by minihune

Besides the cars are made over there.4th Gear
Since 1000 MC40's in Red went out the door, I'd say that that skews the numbers so that Chili Red is numero uno.

Incontrovertible fact is that by far the UGLIEST and SLOWEST of the MINIs is the BRG job. there are posts ALL over this site attesting to that fact. It follows that it should be discontinued and the unsold units exported to the Fatherland.....let the Huns deal with the little buggers.......

I like the fact that I am in the minority with a Solid Gold MC with Aero kit and R90's:smile:
Thanks for the info. I think I will sleep better tonight knowing more about the MINI color preferences, even though my 05 MCS CR/W (BUD) Born On Date: July 18, patiently waits on the English shore for a ride to SC then on to FL. Nick:smile:
