R50/53 Cravenspeed oil pressure adapter alternative?
Cravenspeed oil pressure adapter alternative?
Wondering if there was a reason this wouldn't work in place of the cravenspeed piece at more than half the cost.

Seems pretty equivalent, with one "but". The problem with tapered pipe fittings is you don't really know where it will be pointing when it is appropriately tight. You can grunt it in some more, or leave it loose, but neither is very comforting... but people do this all the time.
I've just seen pictures, but I have the impression the cravenspeed version has three small sideways-facing threaded holes (spaced 120 degrees apart I assume) and comes with plugs, so you can get the tapered thread seated and then plug the two sideways holes that are located unfavorably.

Yes, the cravenspeed piece is tapped in a few spots, but I figure I can tap this one in another spot if I need to.
I guess my real question is going aluminum into the block.

Its one of those things - you have to decide where you fall on the trade-off of time and money.
The stock pressure switch is steel, so brass should be less of a difference in terms of strength or stiffness. If you are thinking corrosion, the internal surfaces are protected by oil, and the oil system should be warm enough to drive off external water during operation. Given its position on the oil filter housing, it won't be long before there is some oil on the outside, too

Yep, timesaver. I get it.
I'd get the Cravenspeed, but it looks like now I need to drill a hole in the side of the oil filter cap to do some diagnosis, so since i'll have a hole there anyway, I may just take oil pressure from there.
Thanks!

Are you sure the cravenspeed adaptor has three holes?https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/r50-r53-hatch-talk-2002-2006/279643-cravenspeed-r53-oil-tapless-adapter-pics.html
That pic says it doesn't.
