Dealer at MINI of Princeton told me that all MINI's are selling at MSRP. Any truth to that?

 

I believe most places are at MSRP, except Cali, of course . I paid MSRP in Dec.

I got my MC for a few bux less than MSRP. I still think there was more $$ in my trade-in, but that's water under the bridge.

There is MSRP and then there is MSRP. The dealer in Richmond wanted MSRP, but also had a $599 "Dealer Prep" fee and a $399 "documentation fee." Thats $1000 in fees!



MOTH sold me the same car at MSRP, plus $120 "Fuel and Mat fee" and $85 for temporary plates.



Both dealers would probably say that they charged MSRP for the car.

 

In the Dallas area, John Roberts BMW sells cars in stock at MSRP PLUS $1,000 for a Cooper and $2000 for a Cooper S. Highway Robbery.

Moritz Mini, on the other hand, has a policy that they will NOT sell any car for a price greater than MSRP. I bought my car for MSRP. I have heard of no one getting a car in the US for any less.

My understanding is that some dealers, mostly one the west coast, jack up the price above MSRP. I got mine at Bill Jacobs in Chicagoland. It was MSRP, and possibly some prep charge but nothing more than I've paid before.

Yes, it is easy for me to say since I know of no dealers in the midwest who jack up prices higher. But I would refuse to pay more. It is ripping people off. If faced with that I'd do what some others have done. I'd just go somewhere and buy at the suggested price, then get my 1,000 mile breakin done quickly while having a fun drive back home.

 

I think I was able to get the dealer to knock off a little over $1k because

it had the aero kit and R90's on it and picked off the lot. I was so lucky
to find the exact one I wanted.
