Supercharger help
So I'm replacing my supercharger on my mini. So while I'm at it I want to hear what your advice is on mods or things to consider changing while I'm at it. I'm new to the mini world just bought this mini with a bad charger..
Get a new or used blower, skip the rebuilt. As for things to do, replace the water pump, change the oil in the blower if it's used. Replace the belt tensioner, Gates is the OEM manufacturer of both the water pump and belt tensioner, Amazon has them cheap. Put a 15% or 17% pulley on it along with a new correct sized belt and one step cooler spark plugs.
All said, how many miles on your Mini and what made you think the charger was toast?

That makes no sense
Buy a used one with unknown remaining service life or buy a new one with a lofty price.
Send your blower to one of EATON’s authorized rebuilders and be done with it.
This job is a major PITA to even consider installing a used blower. I guess if you were dumping the car I could see someone doing this.
Also replace the block off plate o-ring behind the blower.

Okay well I haven't really gotten to the stage where I can say it is the charger 100% but the guy selling it said it. Gonna be taking it apart tomorrow. Already ordered a belt tensioner, 15% pulley and a 2% crank pulley, I found a rebuilt supercharger for $1000 and was gonna do the water pump also just to play it safe.. It's a 2002 mcs with 120k got it for $1,500 runs and drives with the supercharger belt off. Motor sounds very healthy. Driven by a teacher and kept very nicely
Without a belt there is no coolant circulation. The water pump drives off the back end of the supercharger.
Be careful driving it without that belt.

I thought most rebuilds were only $750 or so. Could save some money by just sending yours off to have it rebuilt vs buying the $1000 one... Though some have had good luck with rebuilds others HAVE NOT..It most certainly will not last as long as OEM. Just so you know.. Was a guy on here selling new oem ones not to long ago. Search for his ad as I don't remember how much he was getting for them..
While your in there you should replace the o ring on the crank position sensor (the tend to leak oil--I would be surprised if it isn't leaking now) and consider replacing the sensor as well. Replacement later is as much work as replacing the S/C.
Here is a brand new one for same money.

Sure with shipping it'll cost you alittle more but should last much longer then a rebuilt one!!!!
