How many miles on your New MC/MCS when you picked it up at the dealers?

Also, how many of you think that your new car didn't go over the "break-in" 4500 RPM's prior to you accepting delivery? Just curious. Nick

Doublenick,

Aloha and welcome to NAM.

For me it was 11 long miles. No, mine likely didn't make it over 4500 rpms until I came along.

It varies alot and some demo cars do reach 4500+ before the full break in is completed.

We have had previous threads on this and most times the miles before delivery are between 4 and 60 miles.

Ours was 13 miles to start. No reason to think it was over revved b/c the delivery people see a lot of MINIs every day. We had over 600 miles in the first week! Waaaaahhhhhhoooooooooo!!!!!!!

Cheers,

Mine had 13 miles as well - maybe that's the length of a couple laps around the deck of the Heijin :P I picked up Agrippa at 6:00pm on last Friday, and by 9:30 Saturday, I had 225 miles on him. :D

It was a while ago, but it only had 5 miles on it when I picked it up. I doubt that it went over the 4500 mark. That was on a Saturday morning, and that night by the time I got home it had over 650 miles on it. Haven't slowed down much since then with now over 42000 miles. Oh, its been over the 4500 mark quite a bit now.

Pigwidgeon had six miles on him when I picked him up. He now has a little over 900--in less than two weeks. Of course, about sixty of those miles were in parking lots when I was learning to drive a stick  . I'm getting better at it, and motoring is becoming more fun everyday .

 Wanda had 9 miles, I think, when I took delivery of her April 4, 2003. One week later, 4/11, I took off on my first cross-country roadtrip, hitting 1250 just before crossing the CA/AZ border. 6 weeks later, she had 10,000+ miles! Now she's at 33.5K! Still grinning....still wanting, truly, really needing to hit the road in her!

Two months ago....

While in Charleston Sc at the end of April we discovered there was a Mini dealership. Our last day there we decided to go "window shopping" before leaving that area. Whoa and beyond, we drove home in a new Cooper that had 12 miles at purchase. At two months old we have approx 3200 miles of grin filled motoring. Find myself going miles out of the way upon discovering a particular route may be twistie rich. As far as a 4500 rpm exceeded before purchase, no big deal if warrenty is honored.

Blubelle was a virgin when I first took her home. She hadn't even been around the block, so I had to treat her real nice for the first few thou'. But now, after almost two years, I can run her hard and put her up wet.

Nittany had 11 miles when I picked her up exactly 10 months ago today, in fact. I can't say for sure, but I'd guess that she wasn't abused in those 11 short miles.

Happy 10-month Birthday, Nittany. 12,000+ happy miles and counting!
