After this first snow, I was inspecting my bonnet stripes after washing the car. Both stripes are pitted and in a couple spots there is silver paint visible (or really clear bra). There are no obvious marks on the clear bra adjacent to the stripes.

All of which leads me to believe that the bonnet stripes may need to be replaced come spring since they might be looking pretty tattered by then.

Hey Dave,
That does not seem very promising...
I know you have harsher winters than most....but I think everyone with bonnet stripes will probably ..be faced with your issues.
It seems they are easily replaceable....but......the cost factor might weigh heavily..... unfortunately.

Peace,
D

Yeah, that's the thing though: we haven't event entered the real winter yet. So I don't have much hope for the appearance of the stripes after another few months of sand an gravel blasting the front end of the MINI (thank goodness for the clearbra under the stripes).

Are they tatterd just where the clearbra is, or over the whole stripe?

well, right now the stripes are pock-marked in the area of the clear bra. That is also the most vertical area of the bonnet. The area of the stripe further back on the clear bra is unmarked (my clear bra extends back 24" from the lowest portion of the bonner).

So I would say its more a function of the gravel hitting the nearly vertical surface at the front end of the bonnet, and not necessarily anything to do with the clearbra.
