I've seen a couple in real life. They just don't do it for me. It looks a little off. But that's just my opinion. You thinking about getting one?
Cheers,

One reason that they are rare is that the checkerboard really only looks fantastic on a MINI without a sunroof and it is best on certain colors. It looks great on yellow, red, black, white. Not so good on other colors IMO.

For me it was the only way to get a mini. I agree with Yucca, but I think they look best on red and black. They also need to painted. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want one.

I, being in S Florida, was actually thinking of putting a graphic on the sunroof to keep out the sun. Think what a bus uses on its windows with a UV coating. U Can still see out it but it cuts down on the sun.

This would put both the black and white checkers in the right places. From outside the car...full checkerboard...from inside sunroof.

I am also thinking 05 CR/W

Sorry, I meant they need to BE painted. I had mine painted on, It goes all the way under the trim. No stripe all the way around, and after 2 years it still looks like new.

in the above thread, my PW/Bl has a sunroof. Match the white vinyl squares to the body color on a black roof & go over the sunroof with it. When closed, most didn't know it had a sunroof.

i love my checker top and get lots of thumbs up.  the mini is a fun car to drive and this just goes with the motoring moto. mine is brg and does not have a sun roof. i think all car mods are in the eye of the owner. i like mine and would get it again. have fun with your car whatever you do.

My MCS has a sunroof and I ordered a PS/B checkerboard with big red S from Matt @ CooperFlags. Waiting for it to arrive. It will be the non-perforated material so it'll block out (more) sunlight. You'll barely be able to notice there is a sunroof there

I have ds/ds, sunroof and no checkers, but I love those checkers! My next MINI will have them, (IF...) I've seen black and white checkers on a yellow MINI... very cool!

Godspeed.

It does look great, but the all white roof is so easy to keep clean, and the BRG
body is enough to keep looking good.I never worried if my vehicles were alittle
dirty, like after sitting in the rain ,now I'm out there polishing all the time
Oh well it's kind of like rubbing a dogs belly

Guys,
The checkerboard sunroof cover works great and I think it looks good too. Here in the desert (Las Vegas) the large sunroof turns the car into a hot box without something else besides factory sun screen. My Blk/Wht 04 MCS has got the blk/wht version with the big red S on it. Got it from www.cooperflags.com. ..............mgg

I LOVE mine, except my wife thinks it looks like a taxi. I had it on the sunroof, in reversed colors, but it blew off at high speeds

Roof flag decals on MINIs are very uncommon, period. I originally wanted the checkerboard sticker in my CR/W MCS but in the end went with the Union Jack instead. No regrets.

No matter what roof sticker you decide to put on, you'll have a very unique looking MINI.

I also really love the union jack. But if I was gonna do a flag it would have to be a US slag in support of all the brave men and women fighting and serving in the military.

The best place by far to get a checkered roof decal is www.idlegear.co.uk They sell it for MUCH cheaper than other places(even with shipping from UK which only takes like 2 days) and the very best part is...the checkers are each individual vinyls...so installation is a ton easier...i have them on my CR/w and i LOVE them

I agree. I also taught about adding "Old Glory" to my MCS roof but it just doesn't look "Balanced" in the same way the UJ decal does. I think both flags are beautiful and really go well with a CR, IB or EB MINI. (Even black or British racing Green too).

Just as an FYI and I think most people know this - we can produce any color for checkerboard graphics. This week alone we did a EB/Black and PW/B and had a request for a EB/Pink which may or may not get done.

For those of you with a sunroof, our perforated sunroof only cover is a good way to keep out the sun and installs in less than 20 minutes.

There is a coating that can be put on the perf roof graphics to keep out even more sun. Do you know what it is called? do you do that?
