Popped my hood this morning to check my oil and found this mystery loose wire/cable on the left side of my hood, I'm assuming its supposed to be connected to something but have no idea what... Any ideas?

 

Supposed to attach to the back side of the hood lock mechanism.

Yep.

That snaps into the back of the latch and when contact , lets the car know the hood is latched shut. No light will come on that a door is open. Also think it works with the factory alarm if you have it equipped.

Sometimes the tabs break and you will need a new one. Insert into the back of the passenger side hook catch / latch.
