Cold engine bucking

anyone else have a problem with the engine bucking untill it gets a bit warm?

until i reach about 90-100*F water temp the car will be low on power, buck like a bronco when changing gears and just have a slight buck when driving in low gear like 1st and 2nd.

i have one theory but have yet to check it out. i think my spark plugs may be fowled and dont ignite the fuel properly until they warm up and sort of diesel i guess. it also takes a few more cranks than normal to start the engine.

ill take a look at my plugs tomorrow after work, but untill then any ideas?

no codes or pending codes, and engine works perfect ones it gets a bit warm.

i would suggest letting it warm up to at least 150*F before driving. i always do and ive never had anything like that happen.

your plugs, and coil pack would be a good start. maybe some fuel system cleaner/cylinder lube.

hard to diagnose without other details like model year and mileage, service history, etc.

apologies. im on the mobile app. seems it doesnt show the signature. ive had mine for 2 years now as well. havent heard of this before though. i would just check whatever you can. oil, spark, clean air filter, clean fuel delivery, etc. start with the easy stuff.

Since you've covered a bunch of those fixes, you have to figure its down to the cold… I guess it "could" be the fuel filter.. But i bet it's not ")

yea its probably just the cold... i changed the fuel filter about 20k miles ago.... i just recet the ecu(aka adaptations) via my BavTech program. so ill see what happens now. i did see an over boost code but that normal.

Just a wild guess....
But you have any other symptoms? Side note...what weight oil are you using? Have an oil psi guage?
I'd listen closely for any valvetrain noise.....
If you have a spare coil around...I might swap it out to eliminate that (even if just for a couple days)....but i'm wondering if you have a sticky valve or a spring issue....again just a guess....

yeah, me and zippy a tad more north than you.

i dont have any issues, but i wait till atleaste 100 deg before i take off from home and 80 deg from work sicne theres a 1/2 mile drive way and i basically rioll through 2nd.

im a bit sluggish going through first, but on purpose, i dont want to strain the motor

have you replaced the bypass valve?

looks like it was just the fuel trim adaptations it had.... works perfect now. this morning it was 10*F and not a single issue. i reset all adaptions the ecu was showing me as well.

Plugs where clean
oil is 5/10-30 cant remember
no other symptoms
no gauge
no noise from valve train.
no extra coil pack.

yes i have a DT BPV
well its not like i rev the **** out of it im very gently with a cold engine.

Good to hear it is fine....
One local gas station up here had (up in Manchester nh)had 5000 gallons of premium gas delivered to their diesel tanks, and 1000 gallons of diesel dumped in their premium tanks yesterday...
Big mess for lots of folks....similar symptoms...till the cars stopped/blew up....

Thats worth 19.5K @ $3.91 per gallon @ 5000 gallons to the owner of the gas station… Who got fired? ")
