R53 seats vs cloth?

Hows it going guys, i want to replace the vinyl/leatherette seats from my R53 with a set of cloth seats, as my seats tend to make my back sweat in the summer heat...which cloth seats are a direct bolt in?

On a side note..anyone else have this problem...just me??

I thought R53's were either cloth (std) or leather (option). In any event, I'd look for someone who wants what you have and do a swap. Assuming similar models, it should be a direct bolt-up swap.

Only issue I can see from gen1 to gen1 is car BUILT starting Jan 2005 (yes by build date NOT MODEL YEAR) have weight sensor in the passenger seat in the form of a pressure sensitive mat....newer seats in an older car just leave it unplugged....but older seats in newer (say 2004 in a 2006) will result in an airbag light....
I have the "space gray" cloth....was a no cost option at ordering time compared to the fake leather....

Good catch.

Another idea is to find a good upholstery shop who will cover the seats in anything you like - they're surprisingly cheap in many locales.

See the thread in Modifications / interior.

I started investigating having my cloth seats replaced with leather and it's very difficult so I am not sure replacing your faux leather with MINI cloth is doable.

You might want to look at installing r56 seats....newer...more support...better design...pretty common swap. There are a few threads on it...pretty easy.
