R50/53 Why keep keys out of ignition with seats out?
Why keep keys out of ignition with seats out?
Hey Guys,
I have my 03' MCS pulled apart and the passengers side seat taken out. We're expecting a big snow storm and I want to move the car in the garage.
Can I move the car with the passenger seat and everything disconnected?
I have heard to disconnect the battery or keep keys away from ignition when the seat is removed - but nobody says why?
If anyone knows, I would appreciate it. I'd like to move the car within the next 2 hours.
Mike

Don't worry about it, get your car in the garage, If it's not connected the computer can't see it.. you won't get a warning light, cause there's nothing for the computer to diagnose.

You will get an airbag light......a trip to the dealer to reset it ( most charge about an hour)....or have to buy the airbag tool...
It will throw a code for an open/short in the seat airbag. Keep in mind that the airbag ecu check all the components, if one is missing or faulty, it will code.
In the seat? I swapped out my seats while i was having them reupholstered only one seat at a time, no air-bag light.. I've got a 2002, maybe it's different, tons of thing are different on the 2003 and up...
