R50/53 Cat removal? 02 sensor help!
Cat removal? 02 sensor help!
i want to run an obx header into a borla exhaust. i found a header that comes with the test pipe with spots for both 02 sensors. Will it **** up my gas mileage? is there anyway to remove the cat without running into problems? heres the link for the header. any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Not sure you will gain much...
You WILL get a CEL....
Not many folks have dug too deep with r50's...Return per hp is just not very good on a NA motor...but a few folks did it back when the r50's were new and r53's were hard to come by....
but this will act like a bump anyway...hopefully get you some exposure to a r50 modder!
If you use the Google site search feature, you might be able to dig up some older r50 modding threads that the built in search no longer indexes due to age...still good info.
Good luck!

that is a megan header by the way. obx is 4-2-1 and uses a ball joint type thing not a flex joint.
as for gains you will loose your low end toque do to the 4-1 of the megan and mostly becasue of no cat. NA engines like to have a bit of back pressure. so the in town driving wont feel as good as before. but when you whaling on it, it will be fun.
if you want get a magnaflow cat, they are cheap like $60-$80 and put that in instead of the test pipe. you will have a nice sound you will pass emmisisons and no lights. best of all you wont loose all your low end punch.

here is an ob header. a 4-2-1 runner desgine is better for low and mid range torque while giving a bit of a bump to hp.

so removal of the cat wont get me any real gains? and is there any way around losing the low end torque without the addition of the cat? gotta love no emissions tests here in ohio. plus it would sound totally bitchen

and maybe check a few videos on what a cat less R50 sounds like, i bet its going to sound really raspy and super LOUD and drony. just based on what i have seen for R53's
Check Engine Light
CAI dont do much for cars except sound and looks. maybe a bit better throttle response.
