HELP: Rear Fog/Brake light Retro fit for R53 S

Hey guys, My 2006 R53 doesnt come with rear fog lamps and I just recently bought one from Outmotoring, I want to use this as an additional brake light instead but i could not find any wiring diagram anywhere on how/where to splice the wires to the tail lights. When i opened the black plug/cover for the fog light, the plug is already there, i plugged it in but i guess theres no toggle switch for it to work. My plan is to just use this existing wire and just tap it into the brake light, problem is I dont know which wire to connect it too. I would appreciate the help!

There are so many revisions on different year models. I was surprised seeing that plug was already there so I plugged it in and turn on lights, reverse, font foglights whatever but still doesnt work If the wire is there, its gotta be hooked up somewhere for it to work!

There used to be a kit you could buy to make this simple but the Company discontinued them. I found one on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Go-Mini-Go-G...-/330998350694
I have it in my R52s. The kit allows you to make it a brake light or a reverse light. For the reverse light you would a clear lens assembly.
Here is the link to the instructions. http://www.images.gominigo.com/instr...5-2006_blk.pdf
Hope this helps

Since the light comes from the bcm....
To make it work you would need a new toggle switch and some programming...
But if you disconnect the wiring that is in place (prevent back feeding that could dammage the bcm) you could just run a homemade harness..might even be able to skip using a relay if you use a bright led...then add a switch....
Imo, when I have debated doing this....the above kit...making it into a extra brake light makes more sense on "refresh" gen1' mini...the toggle switches are $$, and getting the RIGHT combo of lettering and number of switches is hard....and used the right way...rear fogs (early used RIGHT) are rarely used(not every time it is dark or rainy...the extra light confuses many drivers..wait for ..er..fog!!).

Locate the brake light wires by following this guide:
http://www.motoringfile.com/howto/brakelight_mod.pdf

Line it to where the fog is , add a pulsar kit & turn it into a 4th brake light!

I just popped mine in without wiring it. Clearly won't work as a brake light, but looks good. :-)

Here is DIY instruction on how to do it. You just have to get a piece of wire, a couple of splicing connectors, and optionally a diode and jump a couple wires.

I just did this mod too! but I chose to turn the third light as a reverse light. It's just a matter of choosing which wire to jump for either brake or reverse light.

http://www.images.gominigo.com/instr...5-2006_blk.pdf

And here is a pic of the result. I am super pleased with it. Initially I was going to just make it a dummy light as I really hated that ugly plastic cover. But I wanted to make it functional if possible, and after some researching I found the above webpage. The mod was super easy if your car is already prewired.

no not a reverse light. Extra Brake light.

i did an LED for my brake light and it’s really bright even over my tinted tailights. Lol

but I’m sure it’s the same wiring right? Just tapped to the brake lights instead of the reverse light?

i do have the plug behind the cover already.

Thank You

That's what I've done when I've installed extra brake lights. Or run it off the 3rd brake light as its usually easier .
