R50/53 rent the tensioner tool?

rent the tensioner tool?

so i was looking around on autozones loan a tool page and found this

its looks pretty identical to the oem tool. im thinking, instead of people buying the tool for 60+ and selling it for a little less than what they paid, why not just rent it for free basically? has anyone used this tool for a mini yet?

if you or someoneU know can work with steel you can make one for $10

you need a few feet of some flat steel stock, and a suitable drill or press/punch to make some holes. Plan I have shows two parts and they can be bolted together or welded.

I used a socket (16mm I think), an allen wrench, and a few feet of square tube steel that I had laying around (anything similar in strength and length would work fine). Dirt cheap, easy as could be, and worked perfectly. Check the last page on this thread for details and pictures:
