I saw the spintrex somewhere earlier and thought it interesting. It's kind of nice seeing others experience with a product before I make a plunge. Keep us posted!

Yeah Amazing!! (lots of new mussel!!)

It's going to the shop today..
Cause I'm sick of lying on my back on a freezing cold floor ")
Besides that, I wanted to "break everything in" and tune at the same time.
So, installed next week:
Spec Stage Two Clutch W/Phantom Grip LSD
Thumper Cylinder Head W/Cam And Ported Intake..
550cc Injector's

Nice shot of the Sprintex… and the electric water pump..

The Work Continues..
Sea-Foam made it easy to clean the pistons..

Once that was sorted.. in went the studs, the chain tensioner and guides..
then the head and adjustable sprocket..

why did you get an adjustable sprocket for? it would be a pain in the but to adjust cam timing while tuning. i would only ever consider one if i had belt driven cams

Now it's clutch time.

In answer to the question "Spec?" in "Greek's Thread" Well, Steve, The Mini Guy (Custom Mini Shop, Fresno)
has put in every clutch you can imagine, in fact, I helped him put in a clutch today.. He's had great success with the spec clutch.. 250,000 miles and counting, on his Mini!! That's more than enough proof for me. (Actually, He told me it was starting to loose it's grip, he's bummed)

I Think, It's more for Thumper, since he set up the cam, he set the sprocket too. At least, thats the conclusion we came to after putting it in ")

One thing thats interesting, On the OEM Sprocket there's a lot of play, due to the alignment slot being quite wide.. with the Thumper Sprocket there's a small hole for the guide dowel, allowing for "no play" very precise engineering..

So you put in an adjustable cam gear in without even measuring it?
This car has been around for 11 yrs now and people still do crazy stuff without knowing why.

so to piggyback off what was asked earlier...you have no idea why its adjustable...or what the adjustments are supposed to be...but because thumper makes it you bought it? talk about a boondoggle...and i have several friends with minis and vw's who used SPEC clutches and they didnt last at all...OS Giken is bar none the best clutch/lsd manufactors period...if they are good for race cars and monster hp cars..then its good for a probably 230whp mini....

I know why I put it in.
Right now it's in the position Thumper Set… I'm gonna be tuning for the next couple of month's.
All things considered, it's quite accessible, 8 or is it 10? bolts later and i can advance or retard the timing as required.
Don't forget, it's basically a stock sprocket with about half a centimeter of adjustment, Before we put it in, we scored the aluminum adjustment ring in 1 mil increments.. Just for S n G's
Thats it, nothing to dramatic.

I run a bunch of forums, It's interesting how threads can change their tone, It's always the same "A difference of opinion" after ten years of admin and moderation.. I've come to realize "It" means nothing..
Now, after i'm exited, about modding my car, researching, willing to share my experiences… I get critiqued for making choices, that in reality, mean nothing (I mean really?) to those who critique and whose opinions mean less to me..
I've found (in the past) that helpful advice is admirable, while the reverse, garners nothing but disrespect. whether the reader/writer realizes it or not.

As, with all forums of this nature. the reader has no concept, of the reality of the poster. what we share, is the common experience of having fun screwing around with cars..

Take it how you will, I take it easy...

AWESOME! Looking good.

Im almost wondering if I should have went to the heavier duty power flex bushings as hard as I drive. I will say the ones I installed work great and do a superior job taking corners.
