I also have the Thumper cam and TPR 2 cylinder head with the ported IM… so that may account for some of it… ")

Hey Stoker -- I'm definitely aware of the heat in Fresno -- Steve helped me sort out a problem with my car (wrong sized belt installed by another shop was slipping at revs) before I took off across the country.

Nice guy -- really got me out of a bind as I wasn't getting air conditioning...

I thought you had the green Megan Racing coilovers -- which are the EZ Street (I thought) -- so I was looking for an opinion on them...thanks.

I have the 15% Pulley -- was hoping you might say something like that about the Sprintex...likely just go with a rebuild when the time is right given your input. $1,000 is a bit easier to swallow. Any benefit to doing the head and replacing a supercharger at the same time? Does the SC need to come out for the head to be bolted up or just the intercooler..

Thanks.

im preety sure the SC is bolted to the block and you cand do head and SC at the same time, ussually when you get a new head with larger valves, your gunna put in bigger injectors, and youll need a tune. the sprintex and a BVH im sure needs atleaste 440cc injectors.

to change the head, the intercooler comes off, valve cover, timing chain, then swap out. the exhaust manifold and intake manifold need to come off as well. i do believe you can leave them on as logn as the catback is unbolted and the throttle body are no longer connected

Waylen Talked me into buying these ") He was right!! 3 Guys have bought them since i bought mine…no complaints..

It's weird, i thought mine were gonna be red.. Due to the pic..

The coil-overs in link i put up, Are what i have, mine are green is all..
The ride adjustment is pretty cool, The front camber adjustment, Is a little difficult due to the bolts being slightly under the "lip" of the strut tower hole…

The Adjustable M7's are really nice, the camber adjustment pops up thru the strut tower hole… Plus, i don't know wether you've seen the M7's, You could put them on a "Tank" and the ride would be good..

Yeah... Steve has the Cosworth cylinder head, I wanna say he has the shrick cam… not positive. He's designed so many parts for his car… anyway, i'm pretty sure he has a 16% reduction pulley, with 400cc injectors. with a Mynes tune, He get's around 230 at the wheels, with an engine thats done 250K!!… It's a nice MINI.

You can leave the SC on to change the head.. but, it'll be in the way ") for the sake of 4 bolts.. Everything needs to be spotless clean, pistons, block top, before you put the new head gasket on…

I put the Spintex on before, we changed out the Cylinder head (Couldn't wait ")… ended up taking it off ") so i could put on the ported IM…

Errrr… I could have bought a new car…. But, that would have been boring…

Thanks to Steve Tech for making sure everything I've done is up to par…

Getting to the end of tuning (George at Bytetronic has done a killer job bringing it all together) This little MINI is a screamer!! and it's relatively "legal" in CA! ")

Having said that, I can't think of anything else to do….. I don't plan on reducing the pulley on the Sprintex…
A whole new tune, plus installing a water/meth system doesn't sound fun on a DD.
I have kids, so no rear seat delete…
Not gonna bother with A fancy header, the OEM header on the car is already pretty darn good.. I may wrap it though ")

Bought the car in August last year, So 10 months of weekends on and off, with the bulk of the work during December last year.

The upgrades that have been performed:

Sprintex Super Charger W/69mm Pulley.
Thumper TPR-2 Cylinder Head.
Thumper NS-1 Cam.
Thumper Ported Intake manifold.
Boria performance exhaust. (Sounds brilliant)
M7 CAI.
GP I/C + OEM Diverter plate.
Bosch 550cc injectors. (ECU Flashed by Bytetronic)
Screamin Deamon coil pack, W/New spark plug cables.
Wide Band. (flashy lights ") for tuning..
Spec stage 2 clutch (Feel's amazing!! we'll see if it lasts.. The "Rattle" from the tranny takes some getting used to… )
Phantom Grip LSD (It's a trip how it just "works")
M7 Header heat shield..

M7 Front strut brace, Subframe brace and Rear Pillar brace.
Megan 32 point adjustable coilovers (They Rock!!)
Stop tech rotors all-round.
Powerflex engine mount Bushings, on new OME Engine mounts. (Less vibration than aftermarket, while still retaining stiffness)
Hotchkiss 19mm Swaybar. (Still in the middle position)
Helix Adjustable Rear Control Arm's (I had the alignment guy put them on, couldn't do it myself using jack stands)
Falcon 215/40 Super sticky tires On New Rims..
Alignment!!

Short shifter. (Huge difference)
Craven speed Gearknob. (Drilled and tapped for set screws to fit my random short shifter)
Craven speed hand brake.
Craven speed Shift well cover. First i put in the black one.. now, i've found a chrome one..
Craven speed Smartphone Mount Pro Series.. (Very cool)
Parrot Asteroid Classic Stereo. (I had the parrot harness rewired to make it fit)
Euro Parcel tray. (Useful)
Redid the entire interior of the car w/Chrome trim.
New peddles from the 2006 MCS (they look a lot nicer than the "Toy car peddles" on the 2002)
M7 Grills Front and back. (Wicked Cool!!)
Wet Okole Seat covers that match the car perfectly..
Black "Joey" mod headlights. Rear Alecantra lights.
Full exterior blackout, with the exception of "Black Jack" door handle covers.

Items Replaced during the trip to the menders:

Engine vacuum valve and tubing (The reason For the p1477 code)
Lower top engine mount with OEM Part.
New Spark plugs NGK BKR8EIX.
Front control arm bushings, Polyurethane with power flex inserts.
Front sway bar bushings replaced with power flex poly bushings.
The drivers side horn that was missing..
Gear shift cables (The old one's were just plain worn out)
Brake master cylinder.
Clutch slave cylinder.
Stainless steel brake lines.
New Battery..

All the "Mal Practice" bolts and screws that previous owners used in a pinch.

No Codes!!

I'm sure I've forgotten something..

The Grey Mini
10K on the Sprintex.. Changed out the dodgy Sprintex cast aluminum belt tensioner for the Mynes CNC'd stainless steel tensioner, very well made piece of kit... world of difference!! no more belt slippage.. Went back to the stock CAI... couldn't stand the racket with the M7, the sprintex is a lot louder than the eaton, all the noise came into the cabin through the M7, couldn't hear the Boria!!.. Besides, i'm getting colder air from the tube up front..

The Blue Mini
Got rear ended bout 4 months ago..
And it's a bit of a PIA, window issues, oil leaks, vacuum problems..
It's been a bit of a money pit lately.. every thing has been fixed and it's running well now... I don't DIY with the Blue Mini, It's A Gen 2 ")

Bought myself A 2008 FJ Cruiser w/38k on the clock, barely broken in for a toyota!!, I've been modding that thing ") mine will take the supercharger from TRD. 65 HP gain with 550 injectors and a water to air intercooler!! Giving me 304hp at the wheels, that project is for the summer..

Hey stoker thanks for the update...didn't know you had a blue r56...glad to hear the grey mini is still pumping along. Still spending some quality at Steve's shop?

My car is still chugging along - focused on maintenance and taking care of all the usual issues of a 102K car - oil leaks and worn out mounts and the like...

Hope all is well mate...

Stoker, glad you're finally able to enjoy the R53. The CNC GPR Performance tensioner for the Sprintex is actually R&D by George (GPR), who is part of the Bytetronik Tuning Team

Happy Motoring

Well, the last thing on my list is replacing the headliner material, Tried gluing it, but i'm crap with glue, don't have the patience for it.. Anyway i found a guy in Fresno that can do "GP grey" for $200 in one day, and, clean out the water drain tube in the roof.. Can't beat that with a stick!!

Stoker's Rebuild Thread-bent-strut-copy.jpeg

Whats wrong with this picture? ") J/K... this is what happens when you drive over a 5 inch log at 30 mph at night in a Mini. needless to say it felt, and sounded like a bomb had just gone off. There's a lot of dead tree's around where i live, PG&E have been cutting down trees by the thousands (The California drought) guess the guys didn't feel like picking this chunk up, I hit it.

Now the nice part of the story, I call Waylen, he tells me to call Megan, I call Megan Racing, Jose, tells me he's got the part, I paid $40+$20 for 2 day shipping, I get it the next day, on the car in 30 mins!! Thanks Jose @ Megan.
Even though he was doing his job, it was a pleasure receiving such great and prompt service!!

By the way, the orange paint is from "marking" the strut, to make sure the alignment/hight was the same for the new bracket, It's washable grass marking paint.
