'04 S Won't Hold an Idle

I replaced the large molded rubber hose that goes to the intake filter box. It was a bit of a struggle but I am confident that everything went back into place. It started up and ran fine at first. After about a two mile drive it had a crazy idle where it would jump up and down between about 1000 & 2200 RPM all on its own. I got it home and the next morning it wouldn't hold an idle at all. It seems to run fine but just won't idle on its own. No SES light on now.
If this were the old carburetor days I would think the idle speed was set too low. I have a feeling it could be related to the linkage between the gas pedal and the fuel injection.
Anybody else have a similar experience? All suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Even if there is not a CEL code right now i would still try and pull any possible stored codes. Also check your intercooler boots make sure they are on good and no leaks, car will run as described if one is leaking or torn.

I will check the boots. I did remove the intercooler to installing the hose and I did think they were looking like they were nearing the end of their run.

Thanks

Had that symptom with a faulty Throttle Position Sensor. Try unplugging the TPS then starting up. If it runs (albeit roughly) and doesn't stall, easy fix to replace the sensor.

Okay, I did pull the old codes and they referred to the TPS so that seemed to be the problem.
The thing is, now it's running great. Anybody have a similar experience with the TPS temporarily malfunctioning and then righting itself or should I expect more trouble and eventual replacement?

Thanks
