R50/53 Apple Computer and MINIS
I had Windows-based computers for years, and then 6 or 7 years ago, I switched to Apple. I'm a designer and I'll be honest: Apples are shinier. I run Windows 7 on a VirtualBox for testing, and it's a huge improvement over previous versions of Windows, in terms of aesthetics and speed.
Also, I'll say that I am definitely prey to marketing, and it's a field I've been working in for 5 years. Apple and Mini ad campaigns are two of the most effective out there.
And for what it's worth, androidphil, I have an Android-based phone... yet another example of good marketing.

I've got an iphone 4
2007 mac mini which I'll be replacing with an '11 mini with Lion.
and an iPad 2 in white which is always hooked up to my car for music.
I plan on pretty much Apple-izing everything, airport extreme, apple tv, etc.

Still use a windows desktop at home....(only to update my iPad or iPhone, plus I use it as a dvr.)
I installed an aftermarket head unit so I'd have Bluetooth, USB, and XM. Wasn't as hard to install. Only thing that was hard was finding info on how to remove interior panels and trim to hide cables. I was super paranoid about breaking anything in my Mini!!
I am currently looking at iPad-iPhone mounts.
I even put the iPad apple sticker on the back of the Mini!

My wife and I both have IPhones, IPad 2 and a MacBook Pro 13 inch, w/ 8GB ram. I have to admit that I am a recent MBP convert. I just got sick of the annual format and reloading of the operating system with Windows. Though Win 7 is the best that Microsoft has put out. I still have an active Win 7 & 15 inch Lenovo Thinkpad at home that I occasionally fire up. But now 99.9% of everything I do is Mac. And Mac's new Lion OS is really nice. It just works.
I'm typing this from my 2011 MBP 13".
All of my previous computers have been Windows. I've had 2 Dell laptops. Both had screen/hinge design issues. One wobbled. The other broke clean off just by opening the lid. I've had one HD crash, and I've had to replace batteries and chargers multiples times. I also own a 10" Acer netbook. The RAM died once and the wireless sometimes disappears.
Windows itself hasn't been a problem for me. I really liked 7 and Vista never posed any problems for me either. My computers never really slowed down, even after a couple years of use. However, none of my family or my girlfriend can manage not to download crap that can slow down their PC's. Because of this I'm always fixing what they break.
So I picked Apple for the quality of design of their machine and battery life. I convinced my gf to get a Mac as well, so I didn't have to listen to how slow her computer was all the time (even after fixing it multiple times). Next on the list is my parents.

Bought my first Mini, a Cooper S '04, 18 days ago. I've always used Apple computers since 1987. I now own a Macbook Pro which is my main workhorse, a Cube, a Pismo and an SE and an SE 30. Also an iPhone 3GS. Hoping to buy an iPad 32 GB wifi soon.
Yea, I know this thread has been dead for a little while, but I thought I'd just chime in. I've been an Apple user since I can remember, starting with the Apple IIe.
On the computer side, I've owned a white MacBook, black Macbook, 13" aluminum unibody MacBook, 13" unibody MacBook Pro, 2 15" MacBook Pros, the 17" MacBook Pro I'm using right now, a couple iMac G3's, a PowerMac G5, a Mac Mini, and a 24" iMac. Most have been sold for one reason or another, and my current MBP is crapping out, so I'm looking to get a 13" MacBook Air in the near future.
I've also owned the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, original iPad and countless iPods.
I would say I love Macs and iPods, but I have a love-hate relationship with the iPhone. They're so damned convenient, but since I'm on T-Mobile, not being able to connect to at least a 3G network negates its usefulness.

I became a Apple convert several years ago when my daughter bought her first iBook. I played with it for a few days and said, WOW, this thing just works. Fast forward to today. We own a 27" iMac, 2 MacBook Pros, 3 iPads, 4iPhones and lastly but not least, two Mac Minis. I just love the operating system as it seems so easy to use. Another thing that has me sold on Apple is the resale value. I know they are much more expensive initially, but the resale percentage seems to always be better to me in my experience. Kinda similar to the MINI. Much more expensive than other small vehicles, but the driving experience just works, and when the day is over, resale value is better. I can definitely see the Apple/MINI connection.
People resell their old computers?
It's something that never occurred to me!
I have had the same computer since 2000, but it has been continually updated, I think the only part of the original computer is the case.

Black 13" Macbook (hers)
15" Macbook Pro (mine)
Mac Mini running Plex Media Center Software, in the entertainment system
Two iPhones (currently the iPhone 4, skipping over the iPhone 4s)
An old 60 GB iPod in each MINI as a jukebox
iPad 2
iPod shuffle and iPod nano for gym duty for each of us.
Although I started off with an Apple IIe, I built, sold and customized DOS/Windows boxed for 15 years, starting in college. Finally got fed up with Windows in 2003 and switched over to Mac when we got my wife a 17" Powerbook G4. Haven't bought a Windows computer since.
I've used Windows 7 and played around with the Beta of Windows 8 a little bit, and I have to say that Win7 is really nice, and Windows in general is getting better all the time. But I also haven't seen any compelling reason for me to switch back.

The other thing that's really impressed me about our Apple computers is that they have a very long useful lifespan. My sole computer at home is a late-2006 Macbook Pro that's maxed out at only 3 GB of RAM, and since it was new, I've upgraded the OS from Tiger to Leopard, then Snow Leopard and recently Lion.
With every OS upgrade it actually seems to run faster, rather than slower. I do a lot of audio/video editing and photographic work, and the laptop does just fine with the latest versions of all my programs, including Office '11, Photoshop CS5 and Aperture. Everything's working so well that instead of getting a new laptop with part of this year's tax return, I'm seriously considering getting a medium-format camera instead!

I had an 07 Mac mini for over 2 years and it was getting pretty old. Only had a gig of ram and I nearly maxed the 80 gig hard drive even with the external, so I was lookin for an upgrade. Ended up getting the new base model Mac mini and changed the ram from 2 to 8 gigs. Combine the much better processor, more ram, and lion, and I'm super happy with it.
Actually I'm most impressed with Lion itself. Coming from leapord was a big upgrade. Oh and I highly recommend getting the magic trackpad. I never thought I'd like a trackpad over a mouse but I do. Lions gestures work flawlessly with it. I love mission control and launch pad.
