New brake pads are still squeaky after 1700 miles

So I installed new EBC greenstuff pads in the rear of the mini last month. It's been over 1700 miles and still there is a terrible squeak when stopping, moving slow, and even when I take turns at 25 mph.

I felt the back of the rotors before install and they were slightly scratched due to the last set of pads. Would this make the break in period much longer than the suggested 1000 mile time? Is there any way to speed up the break in time?

Thanks,
Tab32

Did you only change the pads? That could have something to do with it.

Also, some pads just squeak. Brakes that are bad squeak. Brakes that are average generally don't squeak. Brakes that are really good squeak.

That seems to be the rule, in my experience.

Yeah, I only changed the pads. I didnt think that these were some super performance pads. I have some stop tech low dust pads in the front that I installed last year and I didnt have this issue with them.

Yeah, I thought Green stuff was supposed to be for street use, which usually suggests no noise.

Maybe try getting your rotors resurfaced, or at least putting some of that gel that's supposed to quiet brakes down. If that works, it's a $2 fix.

I just R&R'd my brakes with new rotors and pads.
The ones that the previous owner installed squeeked BADLY!!!
I thought they were some cheap crappy pads.
But when I removed them both front and rear pads were Textar Fusion pads.
I had even considered using these pads but decided to go with Akebono.
Once changed out I have absolutely no squeeking.
As GreekDrifter91 suggested copper anti-seize should help. Also, make sure you coat the area on the brackets that come into contact with the pads.

The squeaking or squeal is cause by the pads vibrating while under slight pressure. To correct this get some brake anti-squeal paste at your local Auto parts store. Permatex sells a good product for this, there are several other brands that work pretty good. Just put a thin layer on the brake pads where they will contact the caliper piston. Let it cure for an hour and then re-assemble. The squeakies should be gone.

Oops, forgot to add.. Put some of the compound on the outer pads where they contact the calipers.

Also, make sure the inner pad is securely connected to the piston via the spring clips. I've never used 'anti-squeal' and have never had an issue. The configuration of the rear pads has led to many issues because of the (relatively) unconventional clips.
