I went ahead and had my computer flashed over when the software first came out early January. Before the flash it was very smooth in 1st gear. It would sometimes pull out onto a street then have no power at all. By the time it would go the gas pedal would be on the floor and the RPM's would be pretty high really fast. Usually I could get around it by giving it more gas but sometimes even then it would do it. Since the reflash my gas mileage has gone up about 2 mpg. But it also no long is smooth out of 1st gear. Usually it jerks a little no matter how much gas it is given. Seems like they just made it rougher starting out of 1st so you naturally give it more gas. Other than that it seems to feel like it has a bit less power accelerating and no power accelerating with the A/C on. Just curious if anyone else has noticed this or had the same situation.

Stumble in a MC? Do you mean a MCS?

I had the upgrade last month and alls well. I got it to cure a minor and occasional drop in rpms when coming off the gas quickly (like at a stop sign) when the engine was cold. Anyway, that's all cleared up. Car runs perfectly smooth. It does take an extra crank to start though, but well within normal, IMO.

So the reflash made your car worse? I have an 02 mcs and haven't had my ecu reflashed yet. I've been holding off because the car had been fine until recently. It has now stalled out twice taking off from a start (after already fully releasing the clutch and moving about 5mph), also I now have a very pronounced stumble at part throttle pulling away from a stop in 1st and second gear. Man, maybe I should have bought another 3 series.Mini just can't seem to get these things right. This car is a blast, but it's also the biggest headache vehicle I've owned.

There is a stumble in the MC Not just the MCS

anyway, we had it v36 flashed in October, the ecu was shipped to NJ to be flashed. With the AC Off it's a BIG improvement. THe car goes without hesitation. With the A/C on... it lags... a little better then before but still lags

Mine had the problem without the A/C on occasionally. Now since they reflashed it seems to not have much power for 1st gear at all. It never takes off smooth no matter how much gas you give it. Now with the A/C on it is way worse. I was just curious if anyone had theirs really fixed. My car is going back Lemon Law on Tuesday and I am looking for a new car.

>>I guess I,m lucky As my 03 MC has no stumble.Does not matter if I going from a standing start ,rolling start ,hard launch or easy .Would the fact that this is a "Canadian" MINI have anything to do with it .Any other Canucks on this?

For me it normally happens when pulling out from a stop sign. About the time I am all the way on the road maybe going 5-10 mph it loses all power. I keep pushing the gas down and no response for 1-2 seconds. Then the RPM's take off really fast. Now that it is reflashed it normally does not have the RPM's take off but still no power at all. All I can see is they took some of the power away from the car with the reflash.
