Help with antenna piece

Hi guys,

Long time no post! I just took my beloved Mini out of storage to find that the antenna was broken off. Attached is a pic of what remains. The company is going to send me a new antenna. But I have a feeling I need this base piece too as it's not a simple screw in screw out thing anymore. What is this piece and where can I get it? Also, can I install it myself? I can't find a way to take it off the roof.

Thanks so much!

Yes you will need a new base, I may have a used one. Call me at the shop on Monday and I'll see if I have one.

Thanks! Just ordered. Does anyone know if a standard auto shop knows how to deal with this? I have no knowledge or tools =P

Update: after being quoted a ridiculous $440 estimate for service at local dealer ... I found some old threads that gave me enough vague ideas to tackle a DIY. 40 min late, success! Definitely didn't need to pull down headliner as much as I thought. Thanks NAM!
