Has anyone seen a MC/LY with chrome? I like the after market add-ons like chrome rings and chrome door protectors.

I have only seen the LY online and it looks nice if it isn' lemony looking. This color might be easy to keep clean. You think?

I guess the good news is that I ruled out Black, Pepper White(love it, but best friend has it), and Gold. I am worried about swirls from cleaning and someone said that Chili Red shows swirls.

I had never given LY any thought and someone suggested it. What do you think?

LY, (liquid yellow), is in my opinion one of the best MINI colors. It has a cheerful look about it that I really like. I don't know about keeping it clean although it would almost surely be easier than any dark color. If I was buying today I'd get LY/W instead of the CR/W I have. Problem in deciding is that all the colors look good.

tomgirl, try to find someway of seeing a LY in person...a local owner or club maybe? It isn't exactly lemony but it isn't like some yellows you may have seen either. I really like it and, as it is, it looks really good with black or white trim....or LY all around!!! But if you have any questions, I recommend you put these to rest somehow and getting to see one in person is the best way, IMO.

I haven't seen any MINIs, let alone a LY, with a lot of aftermarket chrome trim. You can dress it up all you want, but my only thought (...for what its worth ) is that some of what I've seen in the catalogs may conflict with some of the MINI's uncomplicated lines (...like chrome A-pillars!?!?). Just a wee caution...you can be the judge on that.

LY is a great color to have some fun with...there are some nice ideas from owners here on NAM. There is a LY/LY MINI One in the first issue of GoMINI that was nicely done with wheel arches and some interior bits color coded. Tuners such as Diamond Racing, Maxi Tuner (German), TVA, and probably others have a LY Coopers they tweek on cosmetically and otherwise.

Lastly, I can't imagine LY being a difficult color to keep clean. The darker colors just have to be harder, IMO.

IMHO Liquid Yellow/Black (with panther black leather interior) is one of the best color combinations. It is easy to keep clean and at only 5% of the total number of MINIs makes it a unique car.
It is also very useful to other drivers whom cannot help but see how far ahead of them you are, after you pass them.

I am an owner of an '03 MCS, LY/BLK. I have seen the all LY and LY/WHT, but prefer the LY/BLK myself. I guess you can say that the LY hides the dirt to a point, but because it is a hatchback, it collects all the dirt there. As for swirls? I don't have a problem with swirls, and maybe this is because the LY does not have a clear coat on top. Remember this when deciding on a color.

Are you sure about the clear coat? I didn't think there was any car available in any color that didn't have clear coat. Am I wrong?

I've seen one LW/W MCS/JCW with a lot of chrome - including the wheels - and IMO it was really sharp looking.

CR/W and LY/W are my two favorites on the MINI.

Any color can show swirl marks if not properly taken care of. My CR/W MCS has no swirl marks, its been pampered with Zaino products, 100% cotton towels, and at 7 months old the paint looks like a perfect mirror.

LY was another choice I had at time of order and it is a nice color, but did not go with it, because to my eyes CR is better and LY has a strange resemblance to Pepper White, which I already own.

LY/W is a looker. Have not seen one with the chrome bits I have in my MCS.

My MINI is LY/W and it is so awesome looking that sometimes I just can't stop staring at it! It gets a lot of attention from other people too. It is simply a striking color, not lemony but not school bus yellow either. IMO, very easy to keep clean, it looks clean even when it's not. One word of warning - do not run it through an automated car wash - you WILL get the dreaded swirls. See this color in person and you will be hooked.
Liquid Yellow Rules!!

I have a LY/B MCS and the only other colour I would have considered is orange. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view), orange wasn't available on the 03s. I wish it was a bit brighter yellow, it's not that far away from the colour of a Post-it note.
There are a couple of LY/W MINIs in the Sin City MINI Club, and while I like them, in my opinion, the black roof sets off the yellow better.

I have a LY/B MCS, and after several coats of Zaino, it stays clean virtually all the time! The only time I really have to get down with it is after a rain storm or really wet, slimy pavement. I opted for LY/B instead of LY/W because I prefer the "bumblebee" look.

You don't really see swirl marks on my car, but in really bright daylight at a certain angle, you can see something. Trying to get rid of that now, with more polishing and detailing.

Why would LY not have a clear coat and are you sure?

All solid MINI colors, Chili Red, Pepper White, Liquid Yellow and Jet Black have the same exact finish, just different color pigments.

Ok-now I committed! If I didn't change my mind, like the wind, I'd be ok. This is

I think we are all pretty obsessed here so you're in good company! Funny thing, for all the excitement/hype that seems to surround MINIs, the best part is actually sitting behind the wheel and driving. How sweet is that?!?!?!?!
