Thanks for the comments guys! I'm going to go with the ECS wired-in kit and one of the bluetooth kits mountainhorse recommended! Then I just have to decide whether or not to uninstall the OEM handsfree kit... which I will likely do, just so I can mount a factory cup holder (if I can find a reasonably priced anthracite version not from the Baltic states!).

Wow hard to believe it’s been 8 years…. We sold this car late 2014 and miss it to this day.
In fact I just bought a ‘21 deep crystal blue Miata that is the spiritual successor of this car (once I supercharge it lol)

Anyway, got me to thinking about the old days. I have all the photos from the retrofit stored on Flickr should anyone want access to those.
R53 retrofit installation photos

Enjoy

What a great thread and a lovely car. I'm very lucky to own one of the last factory JCW cars. I've managed to acquire most of the parts to do a factory install. The one thing I can't find is either a diagram for the 54 pin connector, or any information as to how it might be wired. If anyone has or could share any information, it would be much appreciated

Thanks

David
