Perhaps you have one of the other phone options, SA639?

Nope. It's a shame the EU cars got most of the cool configurations! But anyway, I should have my handsfree kit operational again in a few days. Thanks again for this thread.

You can see on the center dash vent in the center of it the flat part for the display mount, yea I believe it was only a euro thing for the additional display. I have not seen a MINI here with prep.

Little display on the dash.

Another weird thing with the Euro market in the early Bluetooth days of MINI is that they had the solid mount armrest and snap in base, You would get the kit then the TVA armrest base.

Seen here >

Thanks and let me know when you get things working.

Why does adding BT have to be so overly complicated. I thought with having the MFSW w/ phone buttons it would be a simple plug and play. :( guess no integrated BT for me.

ALso, why ias the "simple" kit so much more than the full on kit.

This does irritate me. It could have been a $3 addition to the head unit plus the microphone.

These were early kits made by Visteon for MINI using the BMW / MINI ULF. They were the early Bluetooth years of development, so the full kit was not really plug and play.

The Full Bluetooth Kit was priced pretty high at one time, then they dropped the price. See the first post at the beginning of the thread a couple pages back.

Thanks

Firstly I'd like to say a massive thanks for this thread, it's hard finding information on this kit and you've pretty much got it all summed up in one!

I've got a couple of problems with my bluetooth at the moment, it's been in from new and worked perfectly for the first 18 or so months I've had the car.
It then wouldn't play the voice out the speakers even though the phone was connected and steering controls worked etc.

Since then and reading this thread, I tried re pairing it to no avail, so I did the full reset on it, and now when pairing I just get 'Please Wait' for hours, with no access to the contact list or functionality.

I'm hoping you or anyone else might have any ideas? I'm really hoping it isn't a broken control unit as I can see that being expensive

Thanks

You are welcome. bradnic did a great job on the install.

I would check the ULF Bluetooth antenna, its usually installed under the driver side dash. Like in the install PDF. If your phone cannot connect after trying the sync procedures in this thread, that would be a place to start. You can see it in the main kit. These are know to fail and loose connection on the BMW also. I would also make sure it dd not disconnected at the ULF module behind the speedo / dash and the cable connection to and from that antenna. this unit is the unit that receieeve the signal and talks to the ULF module via bluetooth.

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/84506928461/ES201167/

If it still does not work I would replace it and see if you can still connect the phone before you start looking int a new ULF module. Also did you reset your phone, cycle on/ off. I had my iPhone stick once or twice and could not find it.

Also pulling the radio and speedo out and checking all the connections as I don't know if a dealership installed it or someone not following the install instructions to a T and something cam loose.

Thanks and hope that helps.

Thank you, I'm wondering as my car is right hand drive, I might be able to get a decent view if I was to take my glovebox out? I'll have a go this weekend and see if I can get anywhere.
I think i'll be able to pull the speedo out as I've already replaced the dash for the JCW carbon one, hopefully it'll be a dodgy connection that can be resolved with a bit of prodding, I don't really feel brave enough to strip a full interior down when I'll need the car to be ready for Monday morning!

Ipod install

I'm sure this question has been answered multiple times, so I apologize in advance.
I have a 2006 S convertible with factory H/K stereo and a factory bluetooth that works great. What is the best product or method to install a iPod input to the head unit that charges the iPod?

Hi, this is a great write-up.
I purchase the 84110302897 kit from ECS (expect it to arrive this week), The alternative kit for those w/o the MSFW. I noticed you elected to remove the IPOD kit, my R53 came with an IPOD kit, can the bluetooth kit work in conjunction with the IPOD kit (by merge a few wires) or does it have to be completely removed? Same with the OEM Aux kit

This generation Bluetooth kit was for the phone only, so no compatibility issues with the original iPod kit. I had an Intravee setup for music display, so I dumped the old iPod cd changer interface kit for it. Did the same on my M3.

No issues with keeping the aux input either, even if you use an Intravee. I know when I retrofitted AMI on my wife's A6 C5 allroad I needed to delete the aux. Not here though.

Just saw this. 84110302897 is that simplified kit. Post up some pics of the install or final install. Would be a good to reference as an option to the full Bluetooth kit.

Is there a possibility to integrate the MFSW phone buttons with the simplified kit(84110302897)? If so, I'd be itching to get it. Having the phone button on my wheel and not being able to use it is a real bummer.

The simple kit 84110302897 It does work with the MFSW also. The key pads are there for people that did not have the MFSW. I have the keypad and MFSW on the full Bluetooth, its redundant , but shows they work in parallel.

Thanks

Will the full bluetooth kit (84640404810) work on MINIs with the European FlipTop armrest (51120430469)?

It's on my Christmas wish list. I think I'll most likely go with the simple kit because I dont want to get rid of my european arm rest, and I like my 2 spoke steering wheel as well.
