NEED HELP!
I drove my 2005 MCS from Sac, Ca. to SF bay for vacation about 300 miles the longest distance I have gone in it. Guess what, the service engine soon light came on. Feaked out, then I took it to the mini dealer $180.00 later they couldn't tell me what was wrong and said I need to give them more $$$$$$$ for testing. Came home and check NAM's web site forum. All that I could find was treads from 2007. Anybody know more about this, it looks like it is a problem with 2005 MCS cars.

Thanks Bob

Generally this seems to be some sort of leak in the intake track. In many cases it has been a leaky intercooler boot, leaky bypass valve, (air leaking into the valve not past it), cracked intake tube between the trottle and the superchrager.
The code could be due to an O2 sensor issue also.

Also do you have a header on it? It can be the flange not sealing.

No I don't have after market ex, but I have a JCW air cleaner that I installed about 9 mouths ago and it has a vac hose that had to be attached to the intake. Had on problem driving local, 1st long trip.

The air filter did not cause it unless the intake hose has a crack or hole in it.

When my Light came on it was the O2 Sensor at about 80K or so. Also, if you come across some bad gas it makes the compputer read wrong and the light will come on. That just recently happened to me. So now I strictly use Shell or Chevron Premium only. ( After adding this to my tank the engine light turned off immediately).

Follow Up to above

My check engine came on twice. 1st the O2 Sensor the 2nd O2 sensor.. I bought mine from a site for really cheap. I'll try looking for it just in case it is your O2 sensor. And the 2nd time was because of bad gas :/.

I had my car in 3 times under warranty for this. Leaks in 3 different locations... Eventually ran out of time on the warranty and became stuck with it.
