I've had the only MINI at my daytime parking lot for just over one year. People see me come and go every day...no big deal. Today I'm pulling out in my IB/W Cooper and spy down the row an IDENTICAL (or darn close) IB/W Cooper w/ dealer plates. I was so happy to see another MINI and happy for yet another excited, new owner. But I also felt a twinge of something else....I mean now the only two MINIs here are exactly alike. I'm going to go with flattered on this, but any thoughts?

No two MINIs are ever truly EXACTLY alike...even if they look the same on the "outside." And every MINI owner is unique in their own way, so you got that going for you! And if you're looking for ways to distinguish your MINI even further from the "new guy" in the lot -- well, go ahead and customize! Put on some stripes, put on a shorty antenna, put on a roof graphic, put on Union Jack mirror covers (look good on IB/W!)...there are tons of ways to YOU-IFY your MINI. Have fun.

Rock On,

-Joe

Good point! I do have a shorty antenna and a brake light mod at least......oh and 7 holes! I'll have to examine my doppelganger more closely. (...BTW, it sure is purty!!!)

Time for some unique bonnet stripes and other individual mods. I just did the boot stripes on mine, as there is another Chili Red/White top in town with bonnet stripes. Add in rims, the kazillion external mods (grilles, handle trim, lights, etc) and you will continue to have a unique car.

One reason I love this thing, there are just so many options.

I'm in the same situation. Have had the only CR/W cooper at school for the last year. Now another one has sprung up in the student parking lot. Oh well guess ya gotta live with it.

I came out of blockbusters the other day and there beside my car was the sma make/model/color etc.The driver was just getting out of the car and I smiled and commented on what fine taste in automobiles he had,as I got into mine,we both got quite a laugh.I'd say roll with it and chalk it up to the fact that he (she) liked yours so much .....................they got one just like it! and in a variation on this theme: imagine this. A couple of weeks ago, I'm reading a thread on NAM and I observe that one of the members has a car that looks a lot like mine in his signature. I look closer and I spy my wife's rose poking its head in the corner of the picture.. hey, that isn't a car that looks like mine IT IS MY CAR!!? Anway, I PM the guy and he says he saw the picture and liked it and I should be flattered instead of annoyed. After some back and forth, he agrees to remove my car from his signature.

Yeah, that kind of stinks, zfxr :???:

It's one more person to share the motoring love, yadda yadda yadda....but in the end, I'd be a bit peeved if someone else had one like mine (once I get it). Somehow I doubt that Taurus/Escort/325/C230 owners feel the same way we do about our cars....I know I've never really heard anyone else get as fiesty as we do about cars that look a little too much like what we've got!

Redleg, your story is funny Glad you laid the smack down! [hey can i use your pic for my sig if i photoshop in bonnet stripes, driving lamps, and a sunroof - JK!]

I was the first mini at my campus, now there are about 8 or 10. Just last quarter there was a new BRG/W cooper on campus. The only difference was it had black interior and white bonnet stripes...and we both have the 15" holies. We usually park next to each other too! I still haven't met the owner after all this time.

This is why I went with PW/B. I haven't seen another one yet. Of course, it's still rare to see them here at all.

While driving down to Galveston two weeks ago, I was stopped getting fuel when another Chili Red/White MCS pulled in to fill up.

The other driver says to me...hey our MINI's look just alike. I said well almost. You got Texas plates and I got Hawaii plates.

He said his car was pretty dirty because he did not have time to wash it, and told me that my MINI looked extra clean. I said thanks and said I had just detailed it.

He asked me if I had any windscreen cracks, I said no, he replied he had a small crackon the passenger side.

We got to comparing paint to see if we had scratches or dents in the same place. He had two small door dings and his right front wheel had a serious road rash on the outer rim.

Nope, no dings or scratches for me as of yet I reported. I guess Iv'e been real lucky.

He says have a good trip and I said you too, and drove off.

I thought to myself how the conversation started with how both cars APPEARED to be just alike, but on closer inspection, not really

Perhaps it's time to customize and individualize your MINI for it to stand out in the crowd.

so I'm about 2 or 3 days away from delivery on my PW/B MC and driving home today from dinner w/ the little lady, here comes a PW/B MC in my neighborhood!

First, I went w/ PW/B cuz it looks classic, like the original Mini. 2nd, it should hide dirt. 3rd they're rare round these parts. I've been all over the Pittsburgh area, and I've only seen 1 other PW MC. It is weird, because I've never seen ANY MC in my area before. They are pretty much congrigated near the dealership, and in the ritzy areas of the city, so to see one here, let alone the same color combo I got, is weird.

Made me sorta mad because I haven't got mine yet. The only thing I keep thinking is that woman got MY car! I know it's not, but if I were into conspiracy (sp?) theories, I'd say they sold my car out from under me. It would be war!
