OK, a quick disclaimer: I realize that color is the most personal choice we can make on our car, and likely I'll end up just going with my gut at the end of the day....that said, I'm hoping you veterans (and newbies such as myself) on NAM can help alleviate some stress I'm having about ordering my 2005 MINI this weekend.

The rub: I'm having a very hard time deciding between a DS MINI and an Electric Blue with white bonnet stripes. Both would have the driving lamps.

I'm worried that if I go with the DS, I'll be a little envious every time I see a EB (or other colored MINI) drive by with it's bright colors and sharp personality.

That said, I think there is just something very classy about the DS.

Sorry to beat a dead horse....but PLEASE help me with my color decision

[thanks to countrym by bringing up this legit point about the MINI looking great with a colored paint job in a previous thread...]

Haven't ordered my MCS yet -- but here's what I'm thinking. (Placing the order this WEEKEND so your feedback is welcome)
MCS (totally confused about color -- having a hard time deciding!!!!), Premium/Sport/Cold Pkgs, HK, AutoWipers/Dim

Of the two, I'd vote for EB with stripes.

However, don't underestimate the Pepper White with black stripes. I'm not a stripe person, but I think that's what I'd do next time around. With a black roof. Although a pure white roof, would look kind of cool, too, if they offered it.

I know it sounds a little bland (PW/B), but in person, it's very striking. Good luck. JR

I have NEVER heard anyone say that they bought the
wrong color...

>> there is just something very classy about the DS. <<

Yes, there is... my ds/ds is very classy. Just the right
balance...

Godspeed.

I am glad that I didn't have to make that choice. I have my baby - a red '68 with a white top and bonnet stripes so it was a no-brainer for me. I can't think of a color combination that I don't like but the EB is a very close second to the red for me.

If EB had been offered as a Cooper color, I would have gotten it but I, too, am not a big fan of stripes. DS is a bit too classy for me. ) Anyway, in the end I have to admit it'd be very, very hard to argue with Haf's EB w/ those lit palm trees. Simply stunning!!!!!!!!

Another vote for EB with white stripes. DS is too damn common for the S and besides I have never been too crazy about silver or gray cars (Just as a side comment, gray cars are the most difficult to see at night...not very good for a safety standpoint). The MINI is a joyful car and specially the MCS deserves to be dressed in the "cool" colors....CR, LY, EB and IB.

EB with black roof and black stripes is another very sweet and fairly less common combo.

Your feedback has been great, NAMers!!! I am now (as of 8:30pm 4/1/04 =)) leaning towards the EB with bonnets.

I really can't argue with hafid -- there's got to be a reason why his pics are my wallpaper on both my lapotops (at home and work!!)

I have DS/DS and have considered the Rogue shadow stripe. Looks very subtle.

I'm not a psychologist and don't want to read too much into your comment about the word "classy"....but my instinct tells me you secretly want EB but in reality see yourself as a DS person. I suppose then it comes down to choosing a MINI that reflects who you are or who you'd like people to think you are. How's that for confusion? I had the same problem when trying to choose between BRG (me) and CR (my inner desire)...I opted for my original gut choice (BRG). Always go with your first choice...just like they tell you in school. And I've second guessed myself many times since- I think it's just a part of the MINI experience.

whatever you decide, you'll always have some buyer's remorse. The point is you've narrowed your decision down to two. Pick one.
