R50/53 Beware the Dinging Acorns
I live in the Northeast where Oak trees are plentiful and therefore, falling acorns. My husband was waxing my car this weekend and noticed many acorn dings on the roof and hood
i'm not quite sure how to fix these, any suggestions?

Parking safely doesn't always work!
Here in the parking lot of my workplace, it's a problem with walnuts. No...no trees around. It's the G
D crows! They pick up the walnuts, and then drop them from dizzying heights, trying to break them open (truly an intelligent bird).
Luckily, I haven't been hit yet, but I've seen and heard other cars get pelted.

My Dad has had the same problem with his 1month old Honda Accord. The tree over the driveway, is dropping nuts on his car and putting dings in it. He seems to think its more of a problem with the new Accord. I dont know if it dinged his old Accord. I don't think so anyway. Since I got my Cooper, he now wishes he had bought one too!
I would deffinately go to a body shop. They should be able to apply heat to the backside of the dented spot and it should just pop out. It's the same for hail damage. It can get expensive though, and probably will never look new again. It's better than the dents though.
Cheers

Thank you lizzy for being understanding. Driving down roads in my area is lethal if you drive a convertible, but it would be worse with walnuts or worse yet coconuts!

I'm sorry to hear about your MINI being dinged by acorns. I would be quite upset if that happened to my car.
My wife, on the other hand, has a Saab 9-3 that she does not care about AT ALL. Spills coffee in it, parks it anywhere, not woorying about door dings, doesn't clean the brake dust, etc....When she first got it I was taking care of it, but since she doesn't care, why should I?
So anyway, it makes a good car to take when you're going somewhere with less than desirable parking. Yesterday, we went to Lymans Orchards in Durham, CT. They have a great fall market, and thousands of people fill the place up. The parking is usually out in a field, very muddy. We took the Saab, and we were lucky to get a spot right near the building, but underneath an oak tree.
After we did our shopping, we were sitting in the car, eating some apples. It was windy, and all of sudden, BANG, something hits the top of the car. Acorns! It makes quite a sound when you're inside. In rapid succession, several more hits. We could see them coming as we looked up through the closed glass sunroof, and the two of us are in hysterics! Everyone walking by is probably wondering why we think it's funny that acorns are pelting our car......
I will say, though, that they were not causing any damage; I checked after the first one hit. The Saab is pretty thick-skinned.....
