Hi,

i managed to put the OBC stalk in the car and coded the OBC feature through bmw dis.

In my first cooper i had the same stalk, but it showed me speed on small screen on the revolution gauge. is it possible to get it coded in this car also?
And another question regarding the consumption shown on the same small screen. It doesnt show me the actual current consumption, instead of that it shows me every like 2km a different value. i want to know if this is like in every other mini, or should it show instant consumption? Because when i did a reset on the ecu, for around half an hour it did show me instant consumption, the moment i turned the car off and back on again, it started showing the consumption after every 2km or so..

Also I bought a dual cluster gauge from someone that used to have a 2006 mini S (I have a 05 justa) the gauge has the RPM like all mini's and then right next to it, identical size it has a smaller version of the speedo with the turn signals and other engine lights on it.
So plug and play, only the speedo needle moves, none of the lights work. is there away I can get it all to work as well?

 

I've got the choice of vehicle speed, outside air temp, avg cons., inst. cons. (which does update constantly), and average speed, all of which I can cycle through with a button on the stalk. That's the way that mine came from the factory..

 

ofcourse, i did have to buy the wiring, but it costs like 20 dollars or so, and ill give you the code which you could give to your local dealer and then order it.
I got mine from ebay, it was like 10 dollars..i think.
i suppose that you have the one on the picture below? or navigation?

anyway, you would have to code it to your car, i think it comes with the chrono package..anyway, they would have to code it or you could do it by yourself if you know how and have the cables and software.

hmm i dont know if it maybe came as an option on minis above 03, but my first one was 04.. it had then the outside temp and speed, but no consumption, average speed, consumption both the average and instant, range..
this one is 03 and i retrofitted the obc feature, but i have the range, outside temp, average speed and consumption, but the average speed is always around 40kmh, and the consumption isnt the instant one, nor the average one.. any ideas?

How much do you think they charge to code it? I don't have cables or software.

I believe that's known as the "Chrono Pack." That's all I know.

As for if the consuption, etc, is an option or not, I have no idea. I do know my MINI was fitted with most factory options, less the sat nav, LSD, auto headlights and rear fogs.

dont know if there are differences in parts between 02 and 05, but you should perform a search based on your VIN and then list all the parts and prices.

That link didn't work for me when I tried, but I just plugged my VIN into the NAM decoder and one of the interior options on the list is: " Instrumentation-inc: tachometer, outside temp gauge, speedometer, LCD odometer/tripmeter, fuel/" (Safe to presume it would go on to list the other features described here if it had more space).

Edit: Just came across this as well...unrelated but I didn't know this: " Lockable climate controlled glove box"

 

no no, this is the site where you will find parts, their prices and their codes so you know what to order from the dealer. this doesnt list your car options, it just adjusts the search criteria to a specific model. it does state the basic info, wether its LHD or RHD, and things like that

 

That's what I was figuring the link was for. I just wanted to play around and see what parts it said was for my 06.

 

I am interested in doing the setup. I have the temperature already in my 2002 MC. So I would just get individual parts to setup for the retrofit, but I do not see wiring parts in the list? What is the parts number for the wiring setup? I am assuming this is the part number #61 12 0 140 552, but this is from Europe. Will it work in North American?

The only thing I would need to get from www.pelicanparts.com:

Could I use my stock gauge RPM on top of the steering wheel #62116913667 and will it work or do I need a different gauge? What is the part number?

The rest I have spare parts such as cable straps and clip natur.

Is there anything else I am missing?
