How much would you pay?
I'm selling my 04 MCS (already bought an 06 MCS with LSD last week).. Basically, what would you pay for my car? I'm getting very different numbers from appraisal sites (KBB/NADA) and Its listed on cars.com and I'm having a hard time trying to gage its actual value. I was offered $10k earlier today and I countered $11k (down from $12.5k).
When I initially posted it on cars.com, they had a "whats my car worth" function where it calculated a KBB value: It was around $10,000. I later calculated it's value on KBB without following a link from cars.com and it gave me $13,900 retail and 12,100 private party. I understand the difference between retail, trade, and private party, but don't understand why cars.com's KBB is so much lower vs. going to the KBB site independently.
Here's a link to my NAM listing: https://www.northamericanmotoring.com...k-miles&cat=12

ll used car estimaters are largely based up recent sales and locations....so aslightly different database...different answer....but remember,it ismostly historical data, with a few calculations thrown in....the value is what a person is willing to pay....
Remember, the "dealer"price not only includes profit, but also a warrenty of some type (even as is often has a few thousand mile/feww days warrenty if not a week), usually a bitof a detail, a wash, and anbasic mantance check/oilchange by most dealers.....
Not really answering you question, but sounds like you lowered your price...guess it comes down to can you justify the $$...lets face it,buyer and seller usually BOTH look up the price...so it is a starting point...then add subtract for how bad you want to sell, options, condition, car history, mx...more of a fuzzy math than science....and readi g the buyer/seller.

thanks Zip. Just weird that when I look up the info through Cars.com's KBB its a few $K less than when I go directly to KBB.com and plug in the same exact numbers.
Here's my real life example for you. I just picked up my 04 MCS JCW two weeks ago and ran into a similar situation with real world vs KBB pricing. KBB suggested around 13-14k based on the condition and mileage of the car with the fact that its a JCW, premium, and sport package ticked (the car is fully loaded which made me super duper happy. Only thing missing really was the cold weather package, rather unnecessary in Arkansas...)
I told her straight up I wasn't paying more than 10k for it. The girl's grandparents insisted she not take less than 11.5k for it and I still wasn't going to go up any. What helped is I started finding things to nitpick at the car as potential things I was going to have to fix (minor cosmetic damage, potentially a supercharger in the short-term) and she eventually caved. I actually caught her at a time (girl is a distant friend) where she was actually strapped for cash and I wasn't necessarily in NEED of a new car, so it really just worked out for the best
So as previously stated, it just comes down to a matter of how badly you need to sell it now and if can you afford to wait it out for a little more if you think its worth more. =P
