oil pressure switch problem?

My oil pressure light comes on at start up and then goes off after accelerating. Has been like this for a little while. This morning I charged my AC and took the car for a drive. The light came on at start but did not go off for about a half mile. I have been searching forums and the web in general and have the idea that its probably the sending unit. What do you all think? Where is the best place to buy one? Any issues with replacements? by the way the car is running great no issues and the oil level is good. Thanks.

If it were my car, I'd take it in for a pressure check. If the oil pump is starting to get weak you may be dodging a bullet by finding out sooner vs later

Sorry no hints on replacement parts

quote the end of my posting "the oil level is good" The light went off and has not come back on. I will probably replace the sender anyway.

It took me too long to respond back about this problem. I changed out the oil pressure sender and it fixed the problem. The conector that plugs into the sender had oil in it. Clearly the sender was bad.

Check the round connector on the driver side next to the airbox. See if there is oil inside, if there is I would strongly recommend replacing the engine harness. It will cause other random problems down the road. I have even seen it cause a MINI to not start.

More towards the fender liner on the front of the car than the airbox. I was thinking basic Cooper

Had issues with my Mini stalling intermittently and the oil filled connector was the culprit. Tach would drop to zero, abs light trifecta. Cleaned it, voila.

Well it has started again. I think the sender went bad again. Going to replace and clean it all up again and see if it stays. I would think I would get more than a year out of a sending unit.

Sender is right here, but I would check you connection at the sender on the wire harness also to make sure its not intermediate or damaged.

Your right I wil check that before I install a new one. I am pretty darn sure I dont have a pressure issue, the car preforms great. This is the exact same symptoms as the last time and it was the sending unit.

I doubt your issue but my oil pressure light came on when first started and I found the oil filter was crushed in the housing. Replaced and all is well (although I bought a new sender which is still sitting on the workbench).

UPDATE: I pulled the old sender out and there was a small amout of oil in the electrical part where the wire harness snaps in. I installed a gauge adapter from OUTMOTORING and a oil pressure gauge (Autometer) and a new pressure sender. No more lights, so far been a few days. Pressure runs a little over 10 psi per 1k of rpm. i guess it was the sender.
