I just installed an ALTA Cai this weekend. Wow a big difference on throttle response. But I have a whistle now that is terribly annoying. It is just off idle happens right as cruise speed extremely loud. Overall very happy, repines excellent, quite a bit more engine(Supercharger) noise. just gotta figure out the whistle!! Anyone have this issue?? Its a 2006 MCS.

 

Either change it back or deal with it.

I had a DDMWorks CAI installed last week but LOVE the sound it makes. I hear more whine when the SC spools up, and I think I hear a little whistle as well. For me, the auditory enhancement was almost as big a motivator for getting the CAI as the added performance. I'm 100% pleased with mine.

From what I've read, the ALTA is one of the loudest intakes out there, so if you were hoping for performance and maybe a little extra noise, you might want to remove the new intake and get another. Or turn up the radio.

My Alta does it too, box top quiets it down a LITTLE, but like everyone said, deal with it or back to stock.

 

other option is getting a JCW airbox with the flapper in it
