R50/53 $42,779 MCS @ this MINI dealer! WOW.
As anyone seen a more expensive MCS sitting on a MINI dealership showroom??

Sorry this MCS with Premium and sport packages, HK, NAV, aero kit, driving lights, chromed S-lytes, CD changer, and JCW kit isn't worth that much at all. Not even close. I guess there is a California markup.
In my area we had an aftermarket everything MCS with JCW kit that cost the owner over $50,000 to put together and he sold recently but I don't know for how much. It had aftermarket wheels, full custom stereo and video with TV tuner/DVD running off of the in dash NAV screen ($12,000 just for the AV upgrade).
I'd say that over $40,000 MCS are pretty easy to find if you look at the highly modified ones (custom wheels, full performance mods, and custom audio/video systems).
Randy Webb's race ready MCS is worth more than $42,000 minus some for 12,000 miles on the track.

I am sure you could run up the price of any car with tons of mods. But I am always interested in what the lastest CA dealer is doing, since their price gouging sent me across state lines to buy my MCS. Sorry? for what? The people in CA. that have to deal with these greedy dealers? If you take a look at any of the dealers cars, none are worth what they are trying to sell them for. I feel sorry for them too!

Wow....that's ONLY $56,408.10 CDN dollars!!! Wonder if they have an operating room off to the side, for customers wishing to trade body parts for cars?
Or maybe I can sell privately. Anyone want a liver, I only need one to live? Been heavily abused for the past 10 years. Working well for 27 years. Remove onsite. I'd offer an arm and a leg, but I'd need both to drive.
The most I've seen a MINI go for was a little over $52K CDN. Anything over $40K CDN for a MINI is too much in my books. Unless I've recently played the winning numbers. Then I'll take 2.

When I purchased my JCW from Classic MINI, it was around $30k. $40k+ is considerably more. For that price, I'll take the Elise instead.
However, there are many upgrades for MINI, which can easily escalate the price tag to an outrageous amount.

It doesn't even have the 18" JCW wheels, it looks like they just chromed the 17" s-lites. I feel for the poor sap who buys that one, unless of course he/she has the money to dump on it. They can also dump some of that money my way too, haaa!
I emailed the dealership and got this response...
Yup, a MINI for $42,799! Doesn't sound so MINI, does it? Especially at first glance. This car was a special-order for a doctor who wanted to have every possible add-on from the factory... navigation, Harman Kardon, etc. Once in, he also wanted to add every possible upgrade and accessory as well. This means that this car sports the $6000 John Cooper Works 200hp tuning kit, $3995 custom-painted ground effects kit, and a set of $1195 chromed wheels... and that's just the beginning of a set of very high-ticket addons. Unfortunately, the buyer of this very-custom showcar was not able to make the purchase, thus leaving us with a pretty expensive MINI for our showroom. It is a beautiful car, and it will find a loving home eventually. Until then, we have a lot of explanations to hand out for everyone scrolling through our prices.
Hope you're enjoying your MINI!

The new MINI has a very high resale value, I wonder how much of the 43 large this car cost will be retained if you tried to sell it in a couple of years. My guess is that something this customized has a very limited appeal and thus a low retention of its value. This car is going to be hard to sell.
That is nuts... but honestly... what is it with California and the chrome wheels? If I were in CA I would probably just buy one from another state, and take a nice long road trip in it. Who is going to pay that much $$$?
Here in Las Vegas the "std. markup" is about $3.500.00 ($US) over the window for a 2004 MCS. That is if you can get the Motoring Advisor to aknowledge your presence and/or give you the time of day and talk to you. Can't wait to see what kind of jab they'll give for the MC40. Finally gave up and bought mine in VA from Crown MINI for $300 over the window..............."MTR ON"

Not true of all CA dealers. In fact anyone in the Sacramento area might want to drive about 50 miles to Pleasanton. The BMW/MINI dealer there sells for list. But, you have to be willing to wait for delivery.

When I lived in Ca, I checked with this dealer and they did have some cars in stock but with a added mark up. They sell only at MSRP PLUS.
I got my car from MINI of Hawaii and had it shipped to CA. The Ca dealers want to play hardball, and put you on a long wait list or if you perfer slam you into a car way over MSRP. I said no deal, got mine out of state and got just the car I wanted.

Sounds like the same crap the West coast dealers started with the 350Z and the Evo. Sad thing is that other dealers across the country try to follow suit, if a CA dealer had a $10K markup on an Evo then the local FL dealers tried to tell me that a $5K markup on theirs was a bargain.
Needless to say I took my business elsewhere.

Probably got sued for malpractice or something, and had to bail out on the MINI.
