so i was at the gym working out today when I noticed these Pontiac advertisements all over the gym, near the locker room and in the locker room. At first i walked by, but then, i wanted to see what the GTO looked like....

then i read the Advertisement...

i had to read it over to believe what it said...

Here is what it said...

"Go Ahead,
Tell the guys in the locker room you have a mini."

WHAT THE HECK!!! WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!!! WHAT AN OFFENSIVE AD!!

i snapped a pic with my phone and here it is:

Someone should tell Bob Lutz that "I have a mini" sounds a lot better than "I do it in my goat..."

When I hear things like that, I just think of the comedian I heard at MiniMeet Canada last September. If guys buy Durangos and Hummers (or in this case, the GTO) because they're compensating for 'something' then male MINI drivers must have pretty big.......

Remember, lets not use the size of our vehicles to compensate for our other shortcomings.

Proud to have a MINI.

Aaaah, who gives a *****. If it sells a car to some backwood white-trash hick with a mullet who sees that at the gym then I'd say the marketing team did their job well.

No replacement for displacement.

Let's not make rash judgements on those who like the look of the new (or old GTO for that matter) Everyone is entitled to their choice of vehicles to drive. Some may snicker at MINI owners, some may snicker at GTO owners. Take the high road and be happy for the car you choose.

BTW - the ad is only offensive if you ALLOW you're self to be offended. I could care less about what others think..Babba Booey to ya all.....

haha right...350 HP 365 lb-ft of torque. And if anyone was at the D1 Grand Prix in Irwindale last Saturday you'd know the GTO can drift just as well as anything coming out of Japan.

But I agree, that ad is retarded!

Except that the Pontiac GTO isn't really American. It wasn't even designed by Americans. It's a rebadged and slightly modified (fuel tank relocated inboard of the rear axle, flipped to LHD, lighting updated to meet Federal standards) Australian-market Holden Monaro. It's even assembled in the land Down Under.

If a little ad intimidates you, you do not truely understand the
sophistication and appreciation of driving and owning a Mini.

Perhaps you are regretting having a mini subconsiously..

The Mini and GTO are totally different types of cars...its like comparing apples and oranges. The GTO will never beat a mini in a corner and a mini will never beat a GTO in a straight line.

After seeing pro rally driver Rhys Millen drift the new GTO at D1 this weekend I would like to see the GTO in the twisties

When I think GTO I picture this

I dont care too much for the styling of the new GTO
