Someone backed into the driving lights and bonnet of my car. This
really sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thought it would be covered by
comprehensive coverage (car unattended in a parking lot) but NO,
they say collision therefore $500 deductible. Of course, the person who
did this was either clueless or didn't give a sh#t. I'm almost done ranting.
*****%^%$$$$$^%$&*$^&*^*&amp(&amp*(^&a mp;%%#$@$
OK that's better.
Going for an estimate now.

Jon

That sucks. Suckutha Maximus.

Why isn't it comprehensive? Because it involved another car?

yep, they said since it was hit ( although parked and unattended )
by a car not a rock or tree, that it falls under collision.

I always dread going back to my car after being parked in a lot 'cause of the fear of seeing it possibly damaged. . Man, I'm sorry it happened to you.

Sorry to hear that,

i had my mini in the auto body for almost a week getting the door replaced for a snow accident i had (not my fault of course.) I was so exciteed to finally get it fixed. THEN Two days after having the car back someone dented my bumper one night after being parked in the spot for five hours or so!!!! I WAS LIVID!!!

Why do people just hit and run???? I also have a deductible so I have to pay for someone elses IDIOT behavior.

KARMA IS A *****!!!

I have come to the conclusion that the majority of people driving don't give a crap about their cars.
I came out of school today to find a Mercedes parked across from me, way over the line. Their front bumper was touching mine and had cracked my license plate holder. Needless to say I left a nasty note.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your car.

It's hard to believe. Last night I thought I only had a broken driving light.
This morning I saw the additional damage. Just got the estimate for what looks like minimal damage which is in excess of $2000. $800 parts & labor

It's not my lucky day. Jon

If your insurance is like mine...and if you filed a police report, there are other ways to collect. It will be considered, "hit and run" and covered under a different part of your policy, I think maybe uninsured motorist, (not sure about this). Anyway, the same thing happen to me and I had $500 deductible also, but filing it the other way the deductible was $200. I have Nationwide Insurance but yours may be the same. Ask them because they may not volunteer this since it will cost them more. Also, a collision claim would raise my insurance rates, even though it wasn't my fault....option B didn't.

Ohhhh so sorry to here about your car, Jon.

I suspect the person who hit your car was not 'stupid and oblivious', more like oblivious and unprincipled. Many people seem to hold the belief that if one isn't caught in the act, then one can behave as if blameless.
I like to believe that karma will catch up with them. It may not be true, but it helps my blood pressure.

Shelly

Because it was "hit and run", it's not a chargable accident. I've got Liberty Mutual
and looks like it has to go against my collision not comprehensive.
While I waited the 8 months for my MCS, I read about so many broken windshields
that I decided to go with a zero deductible on comp. coverage. JUST MY LUCK

A few years ago I was pulling through a parking lot trying to find a spot to park, waiting for someone to pull out. about two rows to the side I hear a bump and see a car rock, then a car pull around the corner, So I copy the licsence number. I parked my car and walked over to check for damage on the car, sure enough a door was caved in. I left a note with my contact # saying that I saw what happened and to call me for the licsense #. I got a call about 2hrs later gave her the #. The was arrrested later that day for hit and run. The guys in my shop were giving me a hard time about turining the person in. funny thing though one of the guys car was hit in a hit and run about 2 weeks later, it was about $1,000. I laughed and said see I bet you wish someone saw it.

I guess your insurance is different, but just to make sure you weren't missing something I called my agent to find out for sure what my parking lot accident was charged under. It was ''uninsured motorist" not comprehensive. It saved me almost $300 dollars bcause the deductable was $200 instead of the $500 for collision. He also said not all companies will do this but if you haven't asked, you should.

Sorry to belabor this but generally speaking I hate insurance companies and I don't want anyone to get less than they should to settle a claim.

sorry to hear about your mishap.

Statefarm would still consider that a comprehensive coverage.

I'm not proud of this but when I was about 16, my buddies & I were cruising around and stopped at the mall to go to the bank. When I came out, my car was gone from the spot I left it. I looked around and found my buddies across the parking lot. Haha on me I said, but gave them what-for as they didn't have a licence.

Next day, same thing, only when I found them they were freaking out, as my friend had scraped against a car while parking. I freaked, didn't know what to do and thought we would catch major doo-doo. We looked around and there was no one around so we split, fast.

Sadly karma was revisited upon me (and my Mini), with a drunken cyclist and an absent minded soccer mom - one front, one back - in the space of four hours.

What goes around, comes around

Hey there. We are neighbors. Do you live near Mar Vista??? I drive by that park all the time. That's the corner of Sawtelle and Palms--Sepulveda is just up a bit.

That's horrible.
