2005 MCS looking for a compass

Searched on and off since delivery, and haven't seen anything I like for a compass in-car . My MPV minivan has a kewl rearview mirror that has built in thermo and compass (plus it "dims" those hi-beams behind us at night), but alas, not a MINI option...
I know i'm not the only one who wants "Nav" via natural magnetism so what are you doing for compass? What are some nice looking non-"Walgreens-Floating-Ball" options for hardtop MCS interior?
Gratefully,
Tatt

PS by the way - how come every time i turn a corner with the heater/fan on, it seems to amp up both the heat and the air flow? (it feels warmer/stronger, until i complete the turn and it goes back to "normal")
Edit by Tatt: not looking for smartphone/Nav apps - strickly analog, for the compass (well, LCD readout, at the most)

I bought a floating ball type one from wallyworld and stuck it on the dash on the right side of the steering wheel. works perfect there not in the way but i can see it clearly.
