Well my 2004 MCS with 150mi met with someones bumper in a parking lot.
Of course I found this out AFTER coming out of breakfast this morning!!! No
note or evidence, so I guess I'm fooked

Of course I filed a police report "just in case" I need to turn this into insurance,
something I'm hoping not to do. As I have 0 claims...

Anyways, the damage doesn't look to be TOO bad (tho you never really know). The facia for sure needs replacement, I also noticed some dimpling below the left tail-lamp. Does anyone have an electric blue rear-facia for an MCS??? (perhaps someone who upgraded to an aero kit???)

Please PM me if you do!

Any suggestions about getting the rear-facia fixed? Or the rear- quarter? Looking if I can get this done around Detroit area...

Thanks,

-Matt

I feel your pain. (Someone ran into my MCS recently, too)

Since you don't have any claims, why don't you just let your insurance company handle it? You won't have to shop around for the "lowest bidder" and worry about getting a second-rate repair job.

Get it done right, and get back to enjoying your new car!

Hey,
Sorry about the damage. I had nearly the same damage to my car not too long ago. You can see the pic below. I brought it to a top notch repair place in Mareitta, Ga (Magnum Collison Center) and they quoted me $1800 at first but I got them down to $1000. They had to replace the left rear light (had a scratch), replace the bumper cover (the plastic exterior bumper) and the bumper support (the actual bumper bar thingy), and they had to un-dent and bondo the dent around the light and repaint it (by the way Magnum has a lifetime warranty on the paint!! so it was worth the cost). I figure this would give you a good idea on cost. I too had to pay out of my pocket, but it was my fault. Well hope this helps you in your decision, best of luck.

It actually looked like this originally, I popped it out with a flathead screw-driver
and snapped the arches back into place. npartist- wow, yup, pretty much the EXACT same thing happened!

The only thing I'll be minus is the rear-lamp. MAYBE the rear bumper support, maybe...

cheers,

-Matt

Sorry to hear about your car

I guess the good news is that hit and run damage should be easier to deal with than if the guy left a note - you comprehensive coverage should cover it w/o any deductible and w/o any increase to your insurance.

The best thing to do is look for someone who bought the aero kit and get their bumper cover (the name of just the pastic part) especially if it is already Electric blue. That is what I did too, magnum already had my color bumper cover. The metal support ends where your crack is, now why BMW didn't extent the support to the corners (where is seems most important) i don't know. Ask your local dealer if they will sell you a bumper cover for a good price (they probably have one cause they always try and keept he bumpers off cars they put aero kits on).

Someone recently clobbered my door with their door on my 98 Chevy. Of course they left without leaving a note. I had raised my comprehensive to $500 deductible because I have 7 cars to insure. The damage estimate was $514 so comprehensive would pay nothing. Instead of using comprehensive it was filed as hit and run and the deductiable was then $200. I got $314 dollars and got the car fixed.....cost me about $150 dollars out of pocket for an excellecnt repair job. Agent said no effect on my insurance rates from this claim.

Just wanted to mention this.....police report was needed to do this and fortunately I had gotten one.

Thanks everyone for the condoloences, I'm calling GMAC insurance tomorrow to see what they can do. Since it was parked, I am thinking comprehensive would cover it?

The scene of the crime was behind "Toast" in Ferndale (just north of 9mi, by Bosco). Really cool brunch place, great omlets and such. I parked behind there, tight spots. I should have parked on the street instead, what was I thinking????????
Their was a bit of silver on my bumper, but yeah um, put out an ABP on a a silver car  The police report is in order, the Ferndale cops were pretty cool about it, no drama.

After close inspection, it appears the bumper beam wasn't touched. The tail-lamp is fine. A slight bit of dimpling by the light, very likely it's bumpable. I do notice the pop-rivet came out on the wheel-well plastic. But the piece otherwise looks fine. The arch is fine. So I am thinking just a skin, pop-rivet and a little bump work. *fingers crossed*. That said, however, I'm going to get it done right and fixed "good as new". This isn't a beater car!

Comprehensive will cover the repairs, but, depending on your deductible and/or the effect on your insurance it might be better to treat it as a "hit and run", which it was. Be sure to ask about all the possibilities for coverage, then pick the best one.

Dang, really sorry to hear about what happened. People that do the "hit and run" type stuff need to be put down. Really low if you ask me. I hope you find out who it was or something at least.

Very sorry to hear about and see your damage.

Just to set your mind at ease about insurance payments, when my MINI got hit in the front end in December by a loose tire flying down the freeway, sustaining $4600 worth of damage, I never identified a perpetrator but the repairs were covered without complaint by State Farm as a comprehensive claim and all I paid was the $100 deductible. Just got my next insurance premium bill and it did not go up as a result. This is what comprehensive insurance is there for.
