Now what...Parts no longer available for MINI

I desparately need a metal clip to hold my shifter cable to the transmission.
It's MINI Part number 25117525816.

It's a $5.00 part which was apparently needed to overcome a design flaw back on 2002...but it's no longer available from MINI!

How can they discontinue a part that's vital to the operation of the car?

Does anyone have an idea where I can get this?

Bottom of product information shows that the part is no longer available.

Well, bring up car-parts.com and search on a common mini cooper part for your year, and see where the closest junk-yard mini is. Then call them up and see if they have the clip.

Goes to show that BMW does not really care about minor things like the people who own the cars.

Another good example was when they sold off the company who produces the DVD updates for the NAV unit... so no more GPS map updates after 2010 (from what I understand).

Made me want to gut out the NAV unit and put in a 7" tablet with Google Streets.

That was the last time I ever looked for another car that came equipped with factory Nav... including the Mini Connected for my Countryman.

You may double check with a dealership and make sure there wasn't a service bulletin that replaced the part. I vaguely recall some sort of recall a while back but I was just outside the build dates affected.

realoem say the part has ended (discontinued), but then says,
see AKT 0025100100, although I can't come up with this part, either.

I believe, and I'm no expert, that the law is they have to make parts for 10 years and after that they can stop.

Do you know what this mysterious part looks like? Its' dimensions? Even just take the illustration from RealOEM.com to a talented mechanic or body shop guy, and maybe they could fabricate one up.

I don't know what it looks like, or if this would be possible; just hypothesizing here...

Give the guys at www.miniworldinc.com a call. They are located in California, 818-768-4800.
I need an Anthracite ash tray for my car and the dealer wanted $82.00 (ridiculous) and they had it for $25.00 with shipping to Il. They claim that if they don't have what you need, then you won't find it..Hope this helps
