Agreed. Though, aside from the dealer in Bedford, I know of no one. My mechanic, used for years and a very dear friend, is top notch. I'm searching for tell-tale signs, can you help elaborate on some?

If you have a mechanic you trust, take it to them to have a look. You don't need a Mini specific mechanic to look at it. A car is a car. Anyone can check for things like worn bushings, oil leaks, alignment issues, or other general wear and tear items that you need to look out for on a car.
