MINI deep growl

i need opinions, ideas, thoughts, experiences, details, and help on this little subject. I got an R53 and would love to make it growl, but a deep growl, I don't want my Cooper sounding like a Honda (no offense... ok yeah it was an insult :p ) with a fart can. I'd like more of a "oh sh*t you hear that?! that sounds like an Infiniti coming this way... OH SH*T!! it's a Meanie!" you know what I mean? what should I get? or do to the car for that deep growl. All input will be greatly appreciated.

What should you get? Something with a bigger engine.

Supercharged or not, that 1.6L wheezer is never gonna "growl" the way you'd like it to. The one-ball mod (removing the resonator) helps, but the exhaust sound coming from the engine is the hurdle. Somebody makes some kind of "sound generator" but I don't know what it sounds like.

I've seen a few on YouTube videos with mods and whatnot and they sound deeper. I got my MINI and a 2008 Charger Hemi V8 (that'd be my bigger engine) but I'm looking for something more on the $1500 budget for the toy you know? if you do know any mods I can do to help let me know friend, thanks for the input.

milltek headers back setup will give you some nice growl.. that plus a pulley and intake make a good whine+growl

Good header and good exhaust. RMW street header and JCW or Miltek or Magnaflow (in that order from a bit growly to really growly).

Cutting out the cat and resonator (aka "one ball") will make it raspy and a little growly. But it's raspier than I liked (I drove it for many miles like that). And once I put the header on, the drone was overwhelming... needed a real exhaust like the JCW to tame it back down. Now it's bliss.
