Finished new look..finally

Well here is the pic of the finished car that I rebuilt. This is a pic of the modified front bumper that I had posted inside pics of last winter.I also changed the grill out to a jcw style which I like.

I drove the car yesterday and really like it. It was basicly the first time I have had a chance to drive it. It still needs a salvage inspection at the end of the month to get to license it to be legal...

Back to bumper.I never liked the look of the turn signal that it had originally. Just a personal thing.Dont take it wrong. : )

I moved the turn signals to the driving light housings and replaced the driving light bulb with a led bulb.Looks fine as far as turn signals go.No driving lights but I dont need them really. The look is much cleaner and less cluttered.I plastic welded the old holes shut if you are wondering..
My job has me traveling at least 250 days a year so finding time to make an appointment for an inspection had to be delayed till my vacation at end of month so I have to keep waiting to drive it..Its going to bug me.lol It fun to drive and runs good..Here is a before front shot.

That's so awesome, looks great! I bet it was cheap to get a wrecked mini too.

Nice. Any pointers to information to the plastic welding?

Thanks guys..

The plastic welding was done using a weller soldering gun with a flat tip. Just stitch the weld puddle the same as metal welding and bury it in deep.Wld from both sides and then use the flat tip to smooth the surface at the joint so little work is required. I have an old bumper that I cut narrow strips out for filler like rod. Works great. I have welded bumpers that were tore almost in half and they never failed. Most important to get things lined up well.I dont use the plastic repair filler stuff sold to repair these. It hasnt impressed me. It pulls loose sometimes when feathering.

Love the look.
Different but true to the overall stock look.

Thanks for all the compliments.. I got to tell you I really like driving this car. It is fun and Im getting 33 mpg driving around. I got rid of my old Kia that was one of the most dependable and cheapest to maintain and operate cars I have ever owned. Was worried about losing mpg's but it seems as tho the mini will be fine.. Hell for as much fun as it is it isnt a big issue for now.

I remember reading your original post last year and was looking forward to seeing the end result. I stumbled upon this thread luckily...really great job man! The relocated turn signals are pimp! Definitely looks cleaner.
