rafthos, thanks for the reply. I was just curious as to whether naming is endemic to the MINI community. Main reason I posted the question was that on other (non - MINI) auto related forums, I don't see the same type of naming as MINI owners do.

>>I was going to name mine GOLIGHTLY, after HOLLY GOLIGHTLY in the movie breakfast at tiffany's. but ended up w/ BLUDOG. I have an indy blue so its just fitting. and also, BLUDOG kinda gives an impression its BULLDOG.

Golightly is something you drink before an intestinal procedure to clean you out--it makes stuff pass through FAST...kind of a @@##%@ reference to the mini's speed
thru the curves...

glad you changed it to BLUDOG

Funny thing, all my cars have always been named...

Louisa, starting with a 69 Buick Skylark coupe...then Bessie, a toyota corona,

a strong 77 Suburban named HELGA for her work ethic...
her beautiful 93 replacement Suburban aptly named BELLE...

but I haven't named my MINI, even though I love it the most ....my neighbor did though...

WINKY TINK because of how it looks with her the cover on, the antenna sticking straight up in the back! Reminds him of a tele tubby....

oh well

My '02 Cooper is named Ringo. I don't know why but my last few cars have had names. When I was thinking of one for the MINI, a friend suggested Ringo since that Beatle is supposed to have had the first Cooper with a hatch in the rear, for his drums.

I'm glad I went with a new name and didn't transfer the old. Could've been a bad omen as my '89 Blazer was called Rattles...

Half MINI, half Godzilla. Minzila, couldn't fit the other "L" because of 7 character Fl. limit.

Motor On

I call mine MINI, too....especially when it dings to me at 37degrees. I say (out loud), "Thank you MINI!" I sing to it , too...."MINI, MINI you're so fine, MINI you just blow my mind. Hey MINI!....Hey MINI! Or when its in the shop....."I want my MINIback, MINIback, MINIback....(think Chili's). Needless to say, I am highly ridiculed by my teenagers for such behavior.

When I started this thread I was still waiting for my Mini to arrive from New York. The car arrived two days ago and we LOVE IT!!!! My 11 year old son calls it Zippy and that name seems to have stuck as all my friends are already calling Zippy!

Haven't met my MINI yet, haven't even ordered it, but I'm thinking of appropirate names. Of course, it has to fit the personality! I was thinking of Skate - like rollerskate. That's how my Dad described the MINI when he first saw one.

Would that be a male or female name? I think my MINI will be male, with a stick and all...

My little one

I have come up with a name for my MCS...she's waiting at the dock in southhampton, cruising on the Turandot...anyway, i digress..I'm just so excited about the new addition to our family...yes we have named our dogs, children, and even computers in the house...it is a sign of affection as well as a committment ot care for, love and respect them, just as we would do ourselves....honestly...i'm not obsessive or anything like that...My MCS is named WINDY....thus when i'm driving her WINDRIDER is riding WINDY...whoops, that is G rated ok??
