Several questions rolled into one...

Ok, I just purchased an 02 Mini S and I have some questions about issues that it has.

1) The power window switch on the pass. side is opposite. Up and the window goes down, Down and it goes up.

2) Distance to empty at full floats. 1st time I filled it up it showed 520. 2nd fill up it showed 321. This last time it says 285. Won't show true reading.

3) mpg also shows 17.1 now and it was showing 34.6 at 1st fill up.

4) While turning key in door, It won't control pass. side window at all.

5) Clock only shows military time.

6) I didn't get a key fob/keyless remote key, Does my 02 have keyless entry? And if so where do I find a remote key (besides dealer)

7) Will the factory fog lights (In air dam) come on with just the parking lights?

8) I have fog lights mounted in front of the grill. Do they come on using the switch to the lower left side of the dash. Mine doesn't power them up but is this the switch for them?

This is all my questions so far. Sorry for all of them together but I've searched for answers and I can't find any. Thanks in advance for any help!

2) I believe it all depends on how you've been driving the car most recently. Mine varies between 250 to 350. If you've recently been highway driving, it'll probably be higher, if city driving probably on the lower end.

3) Same as 2. I think mine's messed up though. I tried getting a reading the other day and it was bouncing as high as 85.

5) I think if you hold the down the hour button long enough it'll switch AM/PM hours.

Ok, Thanks alot. Your probably right because when I bought the car and filled it up for the first time it was all interstate driving. Then as I got closer to home I filled up the 2nd time and it was down to a 2 lane road. Then this 3rd time it's been mostly city driving. Thanks again!!!

Octane/fuel quality/driving style makes a big differance on mpg.
the window was likely repaired...the motor is likly hooked up wrong....the switch cannot be reversed....so unless you want to spend $$, you could live with it ir fiddle with the wires attatching the the motor to the switch...
Lots of specfic questions!!

didn't get an owner's manual I'm guessing?

http://www.minimania.com/pdfile/2002...perCooperS.pdf
many of your questions are answered there

clock:
Changeover from 24-hour to 12-hour mode:
Press both buttons at the same time for
approx. 5 seconds.

fog lights (mounted low in the grill) should be functional with parking lights or low beams (page 50)

The lights in front of the grill are driving lights and if installed per the factory, they can only come on with the high beams of the headlights. The switch to the left of the steering wheel controls the DLs but they only come on when the brights are on; with the switch on they should come on with the brights. See page 18 of http://www.minimania.com/pdfile/NMA3030_INSTR.zip the installation instructions for the driving lights (an insert would (should) have been added to the manual)

An 02-S came with three keys. One had the remote opening button, the other did not and the third is a plastic key to put in your wallet for emergencies. Page 22. I know my son lost the key with the remote for our 02 b4 it was sold so that buyer got one key with no remote - only reliable way I know of to get a new key is thru a dealer.

your various mileage calculations on an 02 are always averages since the last time you reset. There is no instantaneous - so you need to reset every tank else it is gonna get funky in the numbers - and even then it isn't very good imo. The cars after 02 had more functions in the computer.
